Always the 3rd wheel

Anyone else the 3rd wheel all the time? I realised I've never been the 'main friend' always the one in the background. Never bridesmaid or godmother. I've been in groups of 3 and the other have had each other as bridesmaids and godparents but never me. Never anyone's 1st choice. Now I'm in my 30s it's unlikely to change.

Yep. I have often felt like the friend invited along to make up the numbers. The dependable one. The steady mate, never the best friend.

I have also learnt over the years 2 main things: I am much better at 1:1 friendships and I am very self reliant.

I am very self reliant aswell. For example a 'friend' asked if we wanted to go out NYE we couldn't. 5 weeks later she had her child christened and sent me a pic afterwards saying it was only family. Pics on Instagram showed lots of people there. She didn't tell me pre christening as she knew she was being unfair.

No wonder so many people on here seem so fed up with friends.
