To tell someone their vape is blowing in my face?

Currently on holiday and the man on the sun bed next to me is vaping every two seconds. This wouldn’t normally bother me but he’s blowing it directly into my face! I can’t stand it anymore! I’ve just politely said to him that his vape smoke is blowing in my face and he was then extremely rude. He doesn’t speak English so no idea what he’s saying but he basically just shrugged and implied it’s not illegal type thing. I just said that the chemicals are toxic and he’s being incredibly disrespectful! I’m quietly seething on my sun bed. He stopped for a while but him and his wife have started up again, laughing! I really don’t want to have to move just because someone can’t have a bit of blooming respect! It’s also one of those really loud vapes so every time he uses it, it sounds like someone slurping on a straw at the end of their drink! AIBU?

If its a public beach then I'd move personally since they clearly aren't going to respect people around them. If it's a hotel pool then I'd speak to the hotel or attendants about it but they don't have rules around smoking outside then you might need to move. It would annoy me too and I don't think there's anything wrong with asking them politely to stop.

This kind of thing enrages me. I was at a standing gig last month and some eejit next to me was sucking on his vape for the full 3 hours. I managed to keep a lid on it until 10 minutes from the end when a lung-full of his candyfloss vapour went right down my throat. I rather abruptly told him that I was inhaling more of his vape than he was and could he give it a break! In fairness, he did look sheepish but I left shortly thereafter as my patience had evaporated also!

I honestly prefer someone's actual cigarette smoke to vapes

This would piss me off too and I vape!
Any hotels I've been to have specific areas where smoking and vaping are allowed....nowhere else!
Unfortunately, if it's a public beach, it's a free for all. Although, in the past couple of years, a few Spanish beaches have become smoke free and the beaches are a lot cleaner.....no butts!

God yes I hate this, and I like the expression “Kipling’s Fog” to describe it, because it’s like sitting in a cloud of vaporised cake. I don’t know what you can do other than move though, as you’ve already spoken to him?

If it's allowed where you are I would move.

If not allowed, I'd complain to management.

It's pointless asking. People just don't care. I'm sure some vape folk are considerate but plenty aren't.
I was at a packed outdoor concert and there were lots of people in the crowd vaping, smoking cigs and smoking weed. I was surprised at the high number of people doing it especially as it was at a festival where everything was meant to be green.
It's why there has to be actual laws.

I find vape smoke revolting. It has a slight smell of vomit sometimes. 🤢🤮

Put Crazy Frog or some other irritating song on repeat every time they vape. It'll make you feel better.

Spray lynx deodorant/something similar towards the smoke EVERY TIME. He'll soon get the message

Maybe a few naked ones depending on the beach though.........😜

husband kicks someone off his bus daily for vaping - it not always teenagers either

I wonder if they even realise how vile it smells -I saw a poster write on this forum the other day how she vapes but that’s ok because it doesn’t smell 👀

Thanks everyone for the laughs! I nearly resorted to spraying suncream in his direction every time he did it but my husband came
back from the pool and I had a rant to him. They left shortly after which has irritated me even more because they were obviously only being rude because I was in my own. My husband didn’t say anything at all but they clearly knew I then wasn’t on my own and couldn’t be rude anymore. Yes! It’s the smell! Sickly sweet! Lots of other people have vapes and have been polite in that they blow it away from where we are or they move away. This guy was directing it towards my face 🙈. He was also a grown man, in his 40s/50s. Anyway, happiness has resumed 😂. Thanks all.
