Sorry I've put this In Aibu for traffic as Hopi g to book later today or this weekend

Family of four

It's husbands big birthday next May so we are wanting to book Greece for a week with 19 and 15 yr old dc.

We are looking for somewhere near or in a town where there are markets, places to eat, history etc but also with a good beach in the vicinity.
Nothing up mountains due to walking issues with one dc so fairly near to stuff.

Half board or b and b is good so we can try the local eateries.

Also boat trips nearby would also be fab.

Any suggestions or recommendations would be awesome.

Thanks guys

Kefalonia is my favourite island, but I’d try Crete for history.

Kalamata
A large town with lots of eateries.
Plus Beach
Fly direct
Plenty of hotels
Nice market.
interesting museum

Corfu Town is absolutely beautiful. It's got everything. I've visited but not stayed there. We visited whilst staying in Sidari which is a great resort. You don't really get nice beaches in Greece by the way, they're not the golden sands like you get in Spain. Boat trips available anywhere.

Chania in Crete would fit your requirements.

SamW98 · 09/08/2024 18:13

I would agree with Crete especially as you’re looking at May which is quite early in the season.
Definitely you’re going to get better weather in the more Southern islands - Crete, Rhodes, Kos

Chania in Crete

The agents? Who uses travel agents? Haven't they all gone bust?

SamW98 · 09/08/2024 19:06

I’d also say go b&b rather than half board as the joy of Greece is trying different local tavernas each night

Mermaidsarereal · 10/08/2024 13:33

Kos is lovely... I'm very jealous as the food in Greece is amazing!

Hobbesmanc · 10/08/2024 13:44

Rhodes will have better weather than most of the islands and plenty of flight choices as it's a popular island.

Rhode# town is a world heritage town. A perfectly preserved medieval town with plenty to see. Lindos is a great little town to visit or stay in.

I'd suggest a trip either to the gorgeous island of Symi. So cute. Or Nisyros which is a semi dormant volcano. You can walk in the crater.

Plenty of people and no, they haven’t.

I do. Our last holiday had overnight stops in about 12 different places, 6 flights, 2 lots of car hire, a train journey and several excursions all to be coordinated.
