No period for two months - Pregnancy? Weird pill issues? Lend me your wisdom!

So I’ve not had a period for two months.

  • I’m on the mini pill and periods are usually fairly light but for the past two months I’ve had all the symptoms each month (sore boobs, bloated, grumpy) and no period, not even spotting.
  • I’ve done about six pregnancy tests over the last two months, all negative - but am i right in thinking later pregnancy doesn’t always show up on tests?
  • I’m 37 and was last pregnant 9 years ago - I had insane sickness so I’d be amazed if i’ve managed to get pregnant and not notice
  • I keep feeling fluttering - but that may well be psychosomatic and/or wind 😂

I’m on holiday right now but will try and see my GP when I get back. In the mean time, please diagnose me! is there any possible cause i’ve not thought of?

How long have you been on the mini pill for?

The ‘hook effect’ (eg later pregnancy effect on pregnancy test) causes a lighter line as opposed to a progressively darkening one. But not no line at all. Regardless, that would be unlikely to kick in at 2 months pregnant, assuming you were not pregnant at your last period 2 months ago.

You wouldn't be feeling kicks at 2 months pregnant anyway.

Could it be the start of peri-menopause? 37 is on the young side but not outrageously so.

PeriMeno.

I didn't get periods on the mini pill. Or at least, I'd only get 1 or 2 a year. I think it's quite common to not get periods when you're on it.

Mini pill messes up with your periods. Period.
I missed three months of periods at the end of spring - start of summer (but only did one pregnancy test), then I had four periods between middle of July and now lasting between 1 week and 3 days.

I did wonder if it was a mini pill effect t but i’ve been on it for about four years and this has only just happened - can it kick in after that length of time?

re perimenopause - that did cross my mind! women in my family tend to have very late menopause, but perhaps i’m the exception…

As it's unusual for you I'd probably go and get it checked out - likely nothing but personally I'd want the peace of mind.

I’ve been on mini pill for a decade, my periods are still all over the place. I can have perfectly regular periods for 6 months, then bleed for a whole month, then no periods for three, bleed again, normal… you get the picture.

So interesting. I’ve been on it about a decade too and not had a single period. I can’t say I miss them! But not sure how I’ll know when I’m menopausal 🤔
