Husband has a chest infection he's going to GP this afternoon to get that fixed. He's also going to ask for weight loss drugs.

Now apart from a belly he's very fit, still sails, cycles, walks. He wants to turn back the clock and be super slim again. Which is fine. I'm just worried about side effects, but he's done loads of research and says it's only a small percentage get any.

I've read of muscle wastage, well the heart is a muscle. Diarrhea, well he already gets that after eating, the family/friends parties/events we've had to leave because he needs a 💩

He sounds like a real arsehole! I'd remind him that he married you and vowed to look after you 'in sickness and in health', and just because you now have health issues, it doesn't give him a get out clause for his marriage vows!

I too am disabled, became so only a year after getting married, we've now been together for 32 years, and my DH has loved me, and looked after me for all that time, always with a smile on his face, and NEVER makes me feel bad for the things I can't do. He's now disabled himself, and still does everything he possibly can for me. With yours, it looks like he was fine while you were healthy, but now wants to walk away. I'd tell him to get on that plane and don't bother to come back!!

Have you posted about this Prince Among Men before? The bit about forcing you to leave places early so he can 💩 rings a bell.

Please don’t let there be two of them!

Many, many times. OP doesn’t take any advice though, just continues to list his faults (of which there are many).

Yes it's the same one. Things have improved now he cycles to Very local family events so disappears when his bowels grumble. I drive so can leave later.

He's not back from GP been gone a long time so I've been able to hoover and polish in the sitting room without disturbing him.

I’d be shocked if they prescribe them for him.

They haven't

he's been given steroids, eight a day pills. Amoxicillin 3 times a day, a brown inhaler and a blue one. Not a sign of weight loss drugs.

He came in and moaned the vacuum cleaner was a tripping hazard in the hall, I had left it there for a minute while I did something else.

He really hates vacuum cleaners 🙄

You have to have a BMI of 30 to get it prescribed, even privately or 27 but a list of certain conditions. Not just anyone can have it. I don't even know if the NHS routinely prescribes it.

ItsAlrightDarling · 06/08/2024 17:24

Genuine question, are you just going to moan about him until one or other of you dies?

Not if he spends six months abroad 😂

Fingers crossed he does then!

Why can't you use the nest egg to get a new hip?

He'd go mental. We had an awful row when I discovered 30k missing and panicked. Turned out instead of using money from his own account to buy a new car he'd taken it out of the savings.

I do have private healthcare had an MRI consultant said that it wasn't bad enough to replace. I suspect it is now.

This is so weird: why on earth are you staying with him as you obviously dislike him so much?

it’s like The Twits 🙈

Honestly there’s no point asking. She’s just going to see out her days in misery with him, moaning about him on here regularly.

What a life

Sounds like a standard mid life crisis

He’s 74. It’s a geriatric crisis. I’d be packing his cases and looking forward to six months peace.

unsync · 06/08/2024 18:17

So he can sod off to NZ for six months with however much that costs, but you cannot spend money on something that will improve your quality of life and end your hip pain? This man cannot care for you. Another way of improving your quality of life would be to remove him from it. Why on earth do you stay?
