Mine is ‘buttery soft’…If you haven’t come across this phrase, it is mainly used when describing leggings or other clothes, but now I’ve even seen it being used to describe gold jewellery! Also butter isn't that soft…Margariney soft doesn’t have the same ring to it I suppose.. Anyone else?

My D’s IS ASD -
no my dear - your DS HAS asd .
No one IS ASD…

My son who IS autistic prefers to say IS and not HAS... as he says the autism is part of him not something he caught or developed he was born that way..

So I think this is very person specific

Oldtigernidster · 08/08/2024 18:18

‘Sat’ here, ‘stood’ here - it’s ‘sitting’ and ‘standing’!

Boil up the kettle.

Yes, that needs to die in a stagnant ditch, preferably one which has had a dead goat marinating in it for a month.

Yes, marinating, not "mainaDing," you telly tossers! You know who you are...

He would 'marinate it up' for a month!

Blinky21 · 08/08/2024 18:20

Holibobs

Blinky21 · 08/08/2024 18:21

Oh and you've got another thing coming, when it should be think, and wade in, when they mean weigh in

Boil up the kettle.

There's one chef who puts 'up' with everything. Slice up, steam up, fry up, dice up, mix up...I can't remember who it is.

See also 'pan fry' (this is not the companion to 'deep fry', which is 'shallow fry') and 'fry off'. Off what, for fucks sake?

Unnecessarily adding 'of', specifically 'outside of' something instead of 'outside'.

Flyinghighhighinthesky · 08/08/2024 18:32

I hate the term "investment piece" when describing clothing and meant to imply value. No, it's a skirt that is dry clean only and will shrink in the wash!!!

Poodleydoodley · 08/08/2024 18:33

Diddy. I don’t know why but I hate it. It makes me cringe.

Idontlikecheesecake · 08/08/2024 18:36

’… is not the one’

Making Memories
Lush
Picky Tea/Bits
Hot Chocolate and Pj’s (crops up at Christmas ad nauseam)

I hate making memories too. It gives me the irrational rage! I also hate give your head a wobble.

NewGreenDuck · 08/08/2024 18:49

Mine are incorrect renditions of terms, such as 'off my own back'. I want to scream, bat, bat!!

wasdarknowblond · 08/08/2024 18:50

I loathe “reach out”. Bloody stupid and inappropriate. I’ve seen “buttery soft” describe a soft leather handbag, which kind of works…….

ObelixtheGaul · 08/08/2024 11:29

'It eats well'. Said by the food critics in MasterChef. No, it doesn't. It doesn't 'eat', it's a plate of food which is eaten.

Haha! Another one of my peeves, the first time Greg Wallace said this I thought what? Now loads of them say it.

When people say “pre-prepared”….its just “prepared”. It already has ‘pre’ in it. Just say prepared.

Saying someone has ASD implies it's a disease/illness, many autstic people dont like using it. Hopefully you will find this educational. Saying "Im autistic" is mych preferred by many people.

Pliudev · 08/08/2024 19:06

It's a word rather than a phrase for me. It's 'cuppa'. I don’t know why but it makes me cringe.

Sentences started with 'so', as in, 'So, I was doing my hair when...'
Crimble. Hollibobs. Peeps.

FFSWherearemyglasses · 08/08/2024 19:11

Commenting “shared” …. Just do it! You don’t have to announce it 🙄

Flozle · 08/08/2024 19:12

MagicianMoth · 05/08/2024 21:35

“Piece” as it seems to be used now, I can’t even describe it but it’s incredibly annoying.
”You do know that….”

I don't understand: piece?

cats231 · 08/08/2024 19:13

Aaarghh You are cruel, evil and heartless! I'll never be able to unthink that, now!

Okbyethen · 08/08/2024 19:17

When Americans say 'on accident' instead of BY accident. 'I did it on accident' uuurrggh it makes me unnecessarily angry 😄

I also hate 'bang on trend' and 'end of' 🤮🤮🤮

Mumof3confused · 08/08/2024 19:20
