All these EDL knuckleheads rioting in the streets is just terrorism? They're terrorists.

"unlawfully using violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims.
"a terrorist organization"

Why can't it be attempted murder in a lot of cases?

Campcritters · 07/08/2024 09:44

Not sure it’s terrorism, maybe extremism.

Campcritters · 07/08/2024 09:51

White man kills women
Troubled, mentally ill, incel culture, let's interview all his neighbours so they can say what a nice guy he was.

Most female victims know their murderer, the murderer isn’t usually committing the murder because they are motivated by terrorism. Somaiya Begum‘s murderers aren’t terrorists either.

Whatafustercluck · 07/08/2024 09:54

I've worked in policing for over two decades. When Mark Rowley was head of counter terrorism in the Met, he stated that the single biggest threat to the UK's safety and stability is right wing extremism - terrorism. Yanbu, op.

Campcritters · 07/08/2024 09:56

@Whatafustercluck Its a growing threat but I didn’t think it was the biggest?

Echobelly · 07/08/2024 09:57

Absolutely it is, it is threatening many people and causing fear and distress with intent. I'd call that terrorism.

FayeGreener · 07/08/2024 09:59

Were the BLM protestors terrorists?

“By far the biggest terrorist threat comes from Islamist terrorism. It accounts for 67% of attacks since 2018, and about three quarters of MI5’s caseload. The remainder of the UK terrorist threat is largely driven by extreme right-wing terrorism, which accounts for approximately 22% of attacks since 2018 and about a quarter of the MI5 caseload”

from Contest.

Campcritters · 07/08/2024 10:01

Names can be Anglicised. He sure looks White British ;)

Its irrelevant as he wasn’t motivated by terrorism.

This was around 10 years ago, so not recent. The far right threat has grown exponentially. He was making the case for more resources for intelligence services to monitor the far right. It was in relation to a question he was asked about Islamic extremism.

These are not 'protests'. A few years ago these thugs would have been kicking people's heads in at football matches.
A few weeks ago a white man killed three women with a crossbow. where were these concerned citizens then?

Very good point re the crossbow killer.

Campcritters · 07/08/2024 10:05

The stats I posted were from a 2023 report.

Campcritters · 07/08/2024 10:07

Very good point re the crossbow killer.

I don’t understand this arguement. Partners & ex partners kill women far too frequently. I think it’s unusual to expect a protest or riot.

Tommy Robinson should get the same sentence as Anjem Choudhry, we can’t have a two tier system for inciting crimes. As for Musk, he’s in a different jurisdiction with his own anti-Starmer agenda. If people vote with their feet and leave X it will hit his advertising revenue. It’s a cesspool of racism anyway.

Musk is already suing his advertisers for withdrawing from X and costing it revenue.

Not sure about terrorism but this is male violence and we need to name it as such.

TBF I've seen so many pictures of women with their arms full of looted goods, whether they smashed those windows or not and once they've taken their fill they're still involved.
So no, not only male violence.

Did the BLM protesters try to burn down buildings containing people whose existence they objected to?

@L1ttledrummergirl I thought the play on words amusing it shows me as nothing!!

And it bumped the thread from yesterday.

It shows you as someone who makes a statement she doesn't really understand then, doesn't it? Ironic in this context.

It is predominantly male violence but let’s not absolve the women who are there too, a few have already been charged and convicted.

On the wider point, yes, they’re terrorists.

Campcritters · 07/08/2024 10:16

People need to stop buying Teslas though!

JumpingAtShadows1 · 07/08/2024 10:16

Just to say, it is not just white English people who are behaving like this.

My dad is still in hospital due to being attacked by a large gang of muslim males

They are all idiots

Edited

Sorry to hear about your dad, hope he makes a good physical and psychological recovery. The scenes from Birmingham were terrifying, much worse than the laughably deemed ‘Far Right thuggery’ people are being brainwashed about
