This glass sheet is stuck in the sink.

Tried screwdrivers, oil, soap, spoons, knives, levers and foul curses to dislodge it.

Am cleaning and re-assembling abandoned but trendy drinks trolley for disabled neighbour.

Thoughts?

You need one of those black suction pads for changing ceiling spot lights / also found on baby toys

wutheringkites · 04/08/2024 13:07

Dry it and use a suction to get it up. A proper suction holder would be best but a plunger would work too

KEG05 · 04/08/2024 13:07

Get a sucker like the ones you use to stick Xmas lights to the window and stick it on top and then try lift it up that way?

AgentProvocateur · 04/08/2024 13:07

Maybe screw the u-bend off under the sink and break the vacuum that way. Unless it’s jammed stuck, in which case you’ll need to break it.

TruJay · 04/08/2024 13:07

Some kind of suction thing. Do you have anything with suction cups on? Use one on the glass and pull it up and out.
I hate when stuff like this happens.

JC03745 · 04/08/2024 13:09

Toilet plunger!

wutheringkites · 04/08/2024 13:10

Did you run hot water on it? Glass expands with heat so letting it cool down might help if it's jammed.

MaryQueenofPotts · 04/08/2024 13:11

I go with plunger!

TinyYellow · 04/08/2024 13:12

Yeah, you need suction.

twomanyfrogsinabox · 04/08/2024 13:20

Disconnect the trap underneath and try to push something up through the plug hole? If there is a nut holding the plug hole in place remove that and push the whole assembly up? Block the outlet pipe from the plug hole underneath the sink (put a bucket underneath in case of disaster) and run water under the glass to try and float it up? Try and push down on the lower side and with a thin blade try to help flip the other side up?

vanana · 04/08/2024 13:22

dry it and stick gaffer tape to it in a couple of places and pull it out.

Friendofdennis · 04/08/2024 14:01

Try getting a silicone spatula underneath an edge to break the seal

Supersimkin7 · 04/08/2024 15:15

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Thanks to the genius of the ladies’ hive mind, the glass is unstuck via plunger I just bought in Balham.

There’s a sweet little emoticon too! Who knew. Now to fix the telly which has gone big screen on its own, rewire BThe Babapapa lamp that fused the sitting room earlier, flatly deny a small flood from the washing machine to downstairs and take my pills which sadly do not contain sedation.
