Any dentists on here?

I am getting married in a few months and would really love to whiten my teeth a little however, unfortunately, I cannot afford the £200 treatment my dentist is recommending. I hope I am not committing some faux pass by asking this but if you are a dentist or in the know would you be able to recommend a whitening treatment I could buy and do at home that won't cost quite as much?
I am not looking for bright white reflective teeth, would just like to bring my teeth a couple of shades lighter if it is possible on a budget.

Any recommendations on a product that ideally won't compromise my teeth would be amazing.

I'm not a dentist but a friend of mine has lovely teeth and swears by a company called HiSmile.

There is nothing that can be sold legally in the U.K. or EU that will whiten your teeth , because it is illegal to sell anything over the counter that contains sufficient percentage of hydrogen peroxide to whiten teeth.

Anything else for sale will either be abrasive or acid , which will not whiten teeth but will abrade or dissolve away any stain (and also tooth enamel if used enough).

So , in short, there is nothing legal and safe you can use to whiten teeth that you can buy over the counter.

Surely that doesn't apply to dentists in the UK - as I've seen people with much whiter teeth after having treatment here Confused

Not it doesn’t apply to dentists , although there are still limits as to what dentists can use and many of the illegal products have levels higher even than that which a U.K. dentist can legally use.

That being said whitening does not give you a massively whiter smile, it will brighten but not Simon Cowell white which can only be achieved with destructive porcelain dentistry.

When i stopped drinking tea and coffee, my teeth got much whiter in a matter of weeks.
