My DH is making sandwiches for us (me, him and DD) for a train journey tomorrow. He cut up DDs sandwich and went to wrap up the 'adult' sandwiches without cutting them at all. I asked for my sandwich to be cut in half. He said I was being ridiculous and that "no adult needs their sandwich cut up, that is how children eat sandwiches". I insisted that he cut up my sandwich in half, then a jokey argument ensued about whether adults eat their sandwiches whole or not. I am firmly in the camp that everyone cuts up their sandwiches and he is being weird. We've decided to put it to the hive mind of MN.

YABU - adults eat sandwiches whole, not cut up
YANBU - he is a barbarian, of course we cut them up

Adults have sandwiches cut in half. Children have sandwiches cut into 4 triangles.

Cherrysoup · 26/07/2024 21:07

Why, if adults don’t have sandwiches cut up, does every shop selling sandwiches, sell them in halves? The possibility of the filling leaving the building is too great in two big slices of bread. Of course they should be cut, then they don’t require two hands to manipulate into yer gob!

KreedKafer · 26/07/2024 21:08

Has he never bought a sandwich in a pub, a cafe or shop, where they are LITERALLY ALWAYS served cut in half?

Screamingabdabz · 26/07/2024 21:09

He’s winding you up.

BronwenFrideswide · 26/07/2024 21:13

Of course they are cut in half, either triangles or rectangles. How does he explain sandwiches at Afternoon Tea that are cut into triangle quarters 😮

BitOutOfPractice · 26/07/2024 21:16

He's wrong. Wronger than a wrong thing.

Only an animal would suggest otherwise

AttachmentFTW · 26/07/2024 21:16

@Screamingabdabz i wish this were the case, alas he truly believes it

He is the wrongest. Does he use a knife and fork to eat it? 🙃

AttachmentFTW · 26/07/2024 21:18

I put it to him about sandwiches in shops, cafes, pubs etc. He said in shops it's a marketing gimic because it makes it look like there is more filling and in cafes, pubs etc its for aesthetic reasons. But that a proper adult doesn't cut up their own sandwich 🙄

Are you married to Joey Tribiani?

Or does your DH have massive hands?

Or maybe he fills the sandwhiches with only a very thin layer?

ilovepixie · 26/07/2024 21:38

I work in a sandwich bar. We sell sandwiches made to order, not one customer has asked for their sandwich to be left uncut. Even wraps, bagels, baguettes, subs, baps the majority of customers ask for them to be cut. Your OH is a caveman if he eats uncut sandwiches!
Does he cut his toast or leave that uncut too?
