AIBU. Get a cuppa it’s a long one..🥴😀
We bought a very old ex commercial Dutch barge 20 yrs ago needing TLC,,that from the day we bought it I have painted it . Think like the 4 th bridge. !
Hubby worked away for a month at a time so while he was away I used to grind sand ,chip, paint…in the scorching sun of the French sun..sounds fun,,well it sure ain’t…metal cup brush, bits of steel get stuck into you, kneeling on hot steel bend over in odd positions ,masking off so straight line etc, getting paint into all the nooks and crannies..AND THEN when you’ve done one side there is the other side to do,then the deck ,engine room deck, etc etc..well I took on this mantel whilst he was away. Even painted the engine room,,,,and the interior of the barge too..how many wives would get stuck in like that??! I was know as the woman always painting her boat..it’s a big barge btw.
We came back to the UK and so consequently because of my job didn’t return to the boat but husband did several times a year .
I returned last year knowing it would need a bit of painting done but what I saw is a wreck of a barge that was a worse state than when we bought it. I went ballastic. And consequently according to hubby I am the worst person on the planet to behave like that. And he does not want to return to France this summer with me because I ‘kicked off’ . But we have to empty the boat due to fingers X having a buyer.
Why doesn’t my husband understand my ‘irritation’. How can I put in such a way that he understand why I was so utterly devastated and upset that he’d let it get to such a terrible state and hadn’t continued the with upkeep.
At a total loss.
Really appreciate for any advice.
