I work full time in a healthcare admin role.

3 days a week wfh. 2 days office

There is hardly any work to do, and when there is, I get it done in an hour or 2. To be fair, I am very quick and efficient as I've been doing the same thing for years.

Everyone seems to think it's a busy job but it isn't. I'm the only one who does this role, so I'm not in a team.

I already do more than I should, simply for something to do.

There's nothing more I can do. No more tasks or roles.

So I basically do nothing and could easily do my job in 1-2 days,

AIBU to slack like this?

Everything I need to do is done, there just isn't enough

Also worried they'll log on to my laptop to watch me and I'm not doing anything!!

Do you enjoy your job? There are some great online courses you can do to fill your time.

Is it just because you are so efficient that it barely fills any time?

Do you keep telling your manager you're out of work and ask them what they want you to do? If so then slack away

Zanatdy · 24/07/2024 20:15

Can you raise with your LM in your 1-2-1? I would hate it as the day drags when you’re not busy. I don’t know if I’m coming or going some days but I also hate not being busy. Worth having a chat

Sisterdeloris · 24/07/2024 20:17

Make the most of it, just dont get caught slacking surfing the internet or whatever.

Keep majority of your work for your office days and take advantage of your days at home!!

There are plenty of people talking about how they earn massive amounts working only a couple of hours a day.
It’s your manager’s problem not yours. I used to care more but decades of working have made me more philosophical. I tend to get my work done on the three days I am in the office. The WFH days are relaxed. I still do more than the other managers. I’m just efficient.

I started a new job last week op, also in healthcare admin, 3 days a week. I was under supervision the first day so worked at the supervisors pace (as she explained things). It’s really not a hard job and I’ve already had a fair bit of experience, so was left to get on with it for this week. They’re incredibly short staffed so just said to ask if I needed help with something. So I was given my weeks work on Monday which was meant to take me through my 3 days being Monday, Thursday and Friday. However I’d finished the lot by Monday 1.30pm. I actually don’t know what I’m going to do tomorrow. The pays not amazing and I don’t want to be doing myself out of hours by confessing I’ve done half a weeks work in half a day. I can’t work at a slow pace though, there was just so much more to do at my last job and I can’t work any slower now even if I try, I get frustrated :/

But they can check what she’s doing, and when though.

Crysti · 29/07/2024 21:16

As long as she getting her set tasks and work done over the week it won’t matter

PerkyMintDeer · 29/07/2024 21:23

I was in this position. I was wracked with guilt as I am weird like that. I used the time to do extra training (mandatory and free, linkedin learning, google certification etc) or genuine work related research. You could read or listen to podcasts about productivity or improve your touch typing speed or do some training ro become a workplace "champion" (dementia/mental health/edi etc).

But I am a geek, I'll admit.

And when they check computer usage remotely (which they can and do ) OP will have a problem !
