Splashing people in the pool?

I saw a video where a woman was posing on some pool steps, she was about knee high in the water and her friend was taking photos.

This man purposely cannonballs into the water and soaks her and she visibly pissed off. All the comments are laughing saying she deserved it, they hate influencers (no evidence she’s an influencer) and that “not all hero’s wear capes”, it’s a public pool and she should expect to get wet.

Aibu to just not find it funny?

@DuncanMeBiscuit ok, but why imagine that a mother sitting watching her child would be blocking the steps any more or less than the woman in the video we're discussing?

You'd have to ask @Comedycook as it was her scenario.

@DuncanMeBiscuit, @Comedycook didn't say anything about blocking steps 🤷🏻‍♀️

What if it was a mum who was sitting on the steps watching her children swim. Does she deserve an excuse me?

@influencersinthewild is an example of an Instagram account taking the piss out of people taking photos like you describe for social media.

Having a photoshoot like that by the poolside is wanky and in a lot of cases, the cannonball guy will be in on it and banking his share of the profit.

People living their lives for their social media feed deserve to be laughed at. If I like you then you can take a photo of my plate but I want to eat my food hot so you’ve got like half a minute before my hanger kicks in.

Thanks @dunc

Woops. Thanks @DuncanMeBiscuit - where in that post does it refer to someone blocking steps? Unless the hypothetical mother is unnaturally wide, there's no reason to think someone sitting on steps would block access to the whole of the steps.

I was thinking of those ladder wide metal steps with handles at the top?
One person would block them.
That's what they looked like in the vid.

Are you thinking of something else? @rosiers

Oh I don't know, I think we're either splitting hairs or imagining different steps maybe?

Some steps (like the ones in the above video/photo) are quite narrow with a metal handrail and other steps are so wide you could lay two adults down end to end.

I'd say comedycook was talking about the former, or an 'excuse me' wouldn't be necessary.
