Splashing people in the pool?

bullofred · 24/07/2024 19:03

I saw a video where a woman was posing on some pool steps, she was about knee high in the water and her friend was taking photos.

This man purposely cannonballs into the water and soaks her and she visibly pissed off. All the comments are laughing saying she deserved it, they hate influencers (no evidence she’s an influencer) and that “not all hero’s wear capes”, it’s a public pool and she should expect to get wet.

Aibu to just not find it funny?

I personally wouldn’t be staging a photo shoot on the steps in a pool, and if she was splashed accidentally, that’s the risk you take, being in a pool and all, but I think the bloke was an arsehole. There isn’t really a need to do something purely to try and upset someone or make them feel small or silly.

So who posted the video? The lady on the steps or whoever cannonballed into the pool..

Either way... both were probably staged!

Influencers are a pain.. on a recent holiday a couple of influencers took over the rooftop pool for an hour while they got their content.. in the end of group of lads decided to play with a rugby ball In the pool and disrupt them too the applause of all those sitting waiting to use the pool

Neither. I’m presuming his mate filmed him.

And I’m sorry you need to elaborate, was the pool closed off? Or did you just allow people with no authority to stop you using a pool for an entire hour?

And I saw one comment that said she deserved it as she was dressed like a prostitute. She was wearing a bikini. Comments like this scare me.

I've seen it - it was funny, she was being a dick posing all over like anyone gives a shit about her....

He was a paying guest too and is entitled to use the pool

LadyCrumpet · 24/07/2024 21:09

He's an arsehole.

I don't like being splashed because if you aren't expecting a faceful of water, it can knock a contact lens out.

I also like to do non splashy breaststroke and keep my face and hair as dry as possible in a pool. When I swim lanes I can keep it pretty dry except the back of my neck.

Why should some arsehole that wants to splash all over the place trump sedate swimming?

If you can see someone is like that, splashing them is just being a cunt.

Americano75 · 24/07/2024 21:10

I hate cunts like this. So what if she was being daft, it had nothing to do with him. But, of course, he's a 'hero' for being a wanker.

She wasn’t swimming, she was posing repeatedly for photos.

Really? You know full well he’s not just using the pool because he wants to use the pool - he’s doing it to try and upset and humiliate her.

I have to admit I hate this, mostly because I wear glasses and can't have contacts so am forced to wear them in the pool.

Of course, I expect a few drops to fling about, but pretty often it's just other people's kids splashing or even adults with water guns shooting across the pool (I'm looking at you Center Parcs Lazy River!).

It is what it is, though. If you go to a shared pool you have to expect it.

I would assume a grown adult cannonballing was a twunt, though.

You can get prescription swimming goggles from Specsavers. They're amazing.

Or... people are fed up with the annoying 'look at me' lot bred by reality tv with their inflated sense off self importance?
She got splashed with a wee bit of water, hardly surprising in a holiday hotel pool. It's not like she was gamely doing a sedate swim and was interrupted. She was doing her wannabe princess of tiktok/insta, he was doing his ladbible idiocy. And so on ad infinitum.

Splashing someone on purpose is a bit arsey. That said, if you are in a pool, you have to accept you may get wet!

What irks me more than anything is when people get splashed/sprayed accidently and then complain about it!!

DH once went to lane swim and was swimming butterfly - as he brought his arms up and over, some spray went on two older ladies hair and they had the nerve to complain 🙄 I just don't get it - you're in a swimming pool, it's wet!

Last year on holiday, my 9 year old son was playing with his dive ring in the pool. He is a good swimmer and does, in fairness, have a powerful kick for his age. He swam under to get his ring, and as he kicked, some spray went on a man's back - he starts tutting and shaking his head!

Everyone hates dickhead performative male butterfly. If you polled pools, it's close to #1 most annoying thing.

Octavia64 · 24/07/2024 21:22

I'm not sure which I hate more, wannabe influencers posing and taking videos in public spaces (hotel pool counts as public unless she's paid to close it for her exclusive use) or fuckwits who cannonball.

Pretty sure I dislike both of them a lot though.

She is humiliating herself being such a poser - influencers need to get over themselves

Like these ones... 'pool side posing only'🤮

Where is this from please?! @DoreenonTill8 - promise I won’t pose in it - I just like it !

I'd find it funny.. it's sounds funny and I've just laughed.. who takes their phone into a public swimming pool?

This

KreedKafer · 26/07/2024 09:22

I’d think the man was being a prick who just wanted to humiliate an attractive woman, to be honest. I dislike the idea that women who are confident about their appearance somehow need to be taken down a peg or two.

His behaviour would be reasonable if she was literally hogging the steps and refusing to move to let anyone else enter the pool. But it doesn’t sound like that was the case.

Why? What they do has nothing to do with you.

If someone wants to pose for a photo it has no impact on me. I couldn't care less. What he did was far far worse....it's always men doing shit like this isn't it?

Sunshineandpool · 26/07/2024 09:41

Splashing people on purpose isn't nice. But getting a bit splashed accidentally is par for the course.

toastofthetown · 26/07/2024 09:46

I’d rather be in the pool with her (who has no effect on me if I look away) than him (who affects everyone else in the vicinity, and is acting out of spite).

Getting a bit splashed is normal for holiday pool, but adults cannonballing really isn’t.

andHelenknowsimmiserablenow · 26/07/2024 09:50

I don't this funny, but then again I don't find anything like people falling over, bumping into doors, down steps etc while people are laughing or videoing them funny.
To me it's just spiteful, but then again I am weird and probably in the minority!
Candid camera and you've been framed were hilarious to lots of people, but I just didn't get any of it.

TinyYellow · 26/07/2024 10:21

I’m team bloke on this one. If she’s been there for for ages trying to get her perfect picture then it’s her that’s using the pool selfishly. How long was she expecting people to wait for her? I’d rather see someone having a laugh around a pool than posing like a twat for their own instagram. I hate my face being splashed in pools but it’s a hazard of being in a pool but it’s usually accidental.

rosiers · 26/07/2024 10:27

He can do what he likes I suppose, but it's inconsiderate for an adult to intentionally splash anyone in a pool.

I assume the intention was to humiliate the woman, which makes me think he's a nasty arsehole who's probably pissed off that he can't pull her.

MrsSkylerWhite · 26/07/2024 10:29

What kind of self-obsessed idiot takes a phone into a public pool? Is that even allowed?

Good, I’m glad she was pissed off.
