I work full time. Fed up of all the "parent dragging themselves to the end of term" stuff on social media

I work full time, all year round. I wish so much that I could work fewer hours or have more annual leave so I could spend more time with my kids.

All over social media there are memes and reels about parents hanging on by their fingernails for the end of term, just need to get through the final days.

Just wanted to moan about how that is not my life. Summer holidays are harder than term time. We're lucky that after school club runs until 6. But holiday clubs tend to be shorter. And they're further from home than school.

No point to this post expect wanting to moan.

Kids are more tired during term time. Holiday clubs are more fun, more relaxing. There is no homework, no tests, no pressure for them for 6 weeks. Working parents look forward to their children's summer holidays too.

I hear ya. I am a single parent - well, only parent to three and I have two teen students now. My kids have been off school since the end of May as we are in Ireland. I also work full time although as it is not a 9-5 and I can work some days from home apparently I am somehow living the dream.

I am not.

My kids are not.

My nerves, patience and finances are not.

Don’t worry, they’ll be hanging on by their fingernails for the end of the holidays after a few weeks, especially if money is tight.

YANBU. This is why I also get annoyed about SAHMs whose kids are all at school moaning about how much housework there is to do before the school run.
