It's beautiful! Not just the accent but the dialect. I love it, anyone else?

I love it too. I had scouse grandparents and it reminds me of them!

Hermittrismegistus · 20/07/2024 19:30

I find it unpleasant.

Restinggoddess · 20/07/2024 19:32

It seems to have changed over the years

Went to uni in Liverpool and married a scouser - when we return there we notice it’s more pronounced than ever before

yellowgummybears · 20/07/2024 19:33

That's fair enough! It's definitely not everyone's cup of tea.
Yeah, there are definitely quite a few variations of it around, some of the young lads definitely put it on.

I’m a scouser and I love the accent. Adore most northern accents tbf.

MammaTo · 20/07/2024 19:55

I am biased being from Liverpool but yes I do love it. My French relatives said it sounds very sing songy to them when we talk.

Threeweeksold · 20/07/2024 19:56

I love my husband’s gorgeous scouse accent.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 20/07/2024 19:57

I love it too and the slang

TheHuntSyndicate · 20/07/2024 22:50

Not for me, I can't stand any kind of northern accent.

UtterlyOtterly · 20/07/2024 22:52

I love it. I have a scouse friend, I love hearing his voice.

FinalCeleryScheme · 20/07/2024 22:53

No. It’s fucking irritating. Like Harry Enfield’s scousers.

Now Geordie…that is an accent I can listen to all day.

dannyufcfan · 20/07/2024 22:55

Scouse here. And I love the sound of my own voice.

Grazianoscubanheel · 20/07/2024 22:56

It's bloody awful, perhaps only second in awfulness to Manc.

You mingebag!!!

Floatinginatincan · 20/07/2024 23:00

I love a brummie accent. I had a 'thing' with a man who had the deepest voice and sexiest brum accent. Gives me the shivers just thinking about it.

MrsSkylerWhite · 20/07/2024 23:00

Sorry, don’t like it. Phlegmy.

JackGrealishsCalves · 20/07/2024 23:03

Eugh, no not for me, as someone upthread said, it sounds really fake and harsh these days

yellowgummybears · 20/07/2024 23:03

Now Brummie, I'm not so keen on!

I thought that you were watching the boxing and seen Andrew Cain (Liverpool boxer) win the bantamweight british and commonwealth title. Nick Ball gave an interview as well.

Tralalaka · 20/07/2024 23:15

I can’t stand it. I’ve a few Liverpool friends who have extremely soft accents with the tiniest hint of scouse which is nice but full on scouse, def not

gillefc82 · 20/07/2024 23:23

I am proud to have been born in Liverpool, but after many years during childhood and most of my 20s living in the Midlands or the South East, I no longer have a strong scouse accent, but certainly have a twinge which most people are able to place. It tends to come out more when I’ve had a few drinks or if I’m shouting!!

Whilst I do genuinely think some of the most beautifully stunning ladies I’ve ever seen are from Liverpool, if they open their mouths and a very strong, guttural accent comes out, it makes me cringe a little and if I were a straight male, I’d find it an instant turnoff.

I’m a season ticket holder at Everton, so am in the City regularly and I’d say over recent years there seems to be a trend amongst young fellas in particular to over exaggerate the accent. Very strange.

Got to love some of the phrases and sayings though. True linguistic magic! 😂

DeathpunchDan · 20/07/2024 23:29

nah..London for me

DriverMeCrazy · 20/07/2024 23:33

Love it.

twilightermummy · 20/07/2024 23:34

I think it sounds really aggressive. It's my most disliked accent I'm sorry to say.

Berlinlover · 20/07/2024 23:35

I love it. I’m Irish and always feel right at home whenever I visit Liverpool.
