It's beautiful! Not just the accent but the dialect. I love it, anyone else?

I bloody love a Scouse accent!!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/07/2024 23:41

Oh I love it too .
Though there was a "comedy" show I watched about 10 minutes of (cannot remember the name it was a sitcom based on a family) one character had such a thick, overdone Scouse accent it made me press the remote

But otherwise , love it .

Loved listening to Derek Acorah's voice .

I lived in Liverpool for a few years, I love the accent and the people Smile

Zoflorabore · 20/07/2024 23:47

I’m a scouser and I live here too and I like my accent but it’s not super strong and we sound nothing like the Harry Enfield characters 😊

ds is 21 and speaks nicely but some of his friends start every sentence with “lad” which I can’t stand!

Arethereshootingstarstonight · 20/07/2024 23:53

I like it and the humour too. I’m Northern though too. I really dislike a brummie accent, I have to say and a rough Eastenders type accent. I love a Northern accent the most-Mancunian, Liverpudlian, Sheffield etc

Arethereshootingstarstonight · 20/07/2024 23:54

Oh and love Irish too

I love it. I’m Irish and always feel right at home whenever I visit Liverpool.

My nan was Irish and moved to Liverpool as a young woman. She had the best mix of Irish and Scouse in her accent, it was beautiful! (Although, I'm biased as I'm also a Scouser).

Me and DH always say "lid" when we're taking the piss out of people. No one's Scouse accent is that thick they say "lid" naturally, it's definitely exaggerated.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 21/07/2024 00:02

I know a lot of people don't like the Essex accent but I love listening to my EssexBoy DS talking .
I do sometimes ask him "And how are we spelling wa'er / bu'er /.ta'oo with or without the T in the middle " but I'm his muvver so I can Wink

Firebird83 · 21/07/2024 00:05

I love the Scouse accent. Can’t stand Mancunian though.

onethousand · 21/07/2024 00:19

It's my least favourite accent

Willyoujustbequiet · 21/07/2024 00:22

FinalCeleryScheme · 20/07/2024 22:53

No. It’s fucking irritating. Like Harry Enfield’s scousers.

Now Geordie…that is an accent I can listen to all day.

Love Geordie. It's like a big, warm hug.

I dislike scouse. It's too harsh and sounds like they are spitting.

UnNiddeRides · 21/07/2024 00:29

Maybe it’s when exaggerated, but it often sounds like a decongestant is needed to clear catarrh & phlegminess.

6underground · 21/07/2024 00:30

I really like it.
I’m Irish but we had family in Liverpool from when my grandmother’s sisters emigrated there.
They came to visit when I was a kid and we all struggled to understand each other a little bit at first, but the weird thing was once everyone got into the flow of talking, the accents sounded oddly similar.

hoarahloux · 21/07/2024 00:35

It's my least favourite accent. A kid in school was from Liverpool and bullied me relentlessly which probably didn't help.

Pieceofpurplesky · 21/07/2024 01:09

A soft one is lovely, but the thick, phlegmmy one not so much. Sorry! And I mean thick in accent not intelligence.

Love a Scottish accent though.

gano · 21/07/2024 01:26

I can't stand it. It's like nails down a chalkboard to my ears. Although I'm a brummie, and most people don't like our accents much either.

Emmadaily · 21/07/2024 01:39

I like the scouse accent and it reminds of the stoke accent

Most favourite though is southern Ireland I find that quite beautiful
Couod listen to that all day long .

Toddlerteaplease · 21/07/2024 01:57

I like it too. Am on holiday with a group of scousers. They are such lovely people. And so friendly. Changed groups from my local one, to this as they are so lovely. Don't like Brunei or Belfast accents though.

mjf981 · 21/07/2024 03:10

Ha, I really dislike it. I think it may be my least favourite English accent. Its very harsh and grating.

A Georgie accent on the other hand 😍

mjf981 · 21/07/2024 03:11

*Geordie!

braaaiiins · 21/07/2024 03:21

It's o
ne of my favourite UK accents.

SurferDog · 21/07/2024 03:25

I hate it, I think it's amongst the worst.

Catsinaflat · 21/07/2024 04:45

My dh is a scouser though his accent is not as strong after so long in the South. I love it when we go up to Liverpool because he tops it up! It's a lovely accent.

Moonpie6 · 21/07/2024 04:50

I'm Scouse. Thanks for the compliments.
