A lot of them sell their souls like this. It's horrendous.
If we ignore the silliness about cat ladies, what their supporters really mean is that they absolutely don't want ANY women in a position of authority. If they see just one woman in such a position, it's one too many - they see that as "women taking over". An awful lot of them want us to look pretty and be obedient housewives. I have no doubt that some of them would be very happy with a law preventing women having paid employment.
