AIBU to have had it with pompous over promoted under skilled middle aged men prating and long anecdoting at me?

Because I have had enough and need to learn how to politely get them to stfu. So far I have learnt that if I leave the room while they're mid flow, most times they don't even notice, and it solves the issue in that I can't hear them any more. But sometimes I can't leave the room or don't want to : what can I do then?

nip to the loo then stand somewhere else.
go get water and don’t offer to get them any.
Pick your phone up and start scrolling.

Is this happening in your workplace, at home, or when you're out in social situations?

(I won't doubt you if you say "all of them".)

Stick your fingers in your ears and sing lalalalalala

When I used to run across this, often on the phone (where the technique works better) I would say absolutely nothing, no um hums, ok, yes, nothing, just absolute silence. They would then wind down and peter out, and I would then say “Are you finished?” There is no cure for mansplaining, but it got the point across at the moment.

@KohlaParasaurus yes, sadly it is all of them. Well, not my own home, but the wider family.

Most pressing is I recently picked up a new voluntary commitment with a view to developing my skills/network, which is great and doing what I'd hoped ie I'm getting paid work off the back of it, but my god the fact none of us are getting paid there means it's all default patriarchal hierarchy which totally allows them to relax into full-on man monologue tediousness. For hours at a stretch. Including opining and name dropping at me about my specific area of expertise which is different from theirs. So not only are they boring but I also know they're talking shit.

Say loudly and firmly "can I just stop you there? Because I think you'd be interested to hear..." and bore on without pausing for breath about your own achievements. If they try to speak, hold up an imperious hand and say "Just a minute, I've not finished yet..." I promise they get tired of this long before you do.
