Overpayment worries

I’ve recently contacted the carers allowance to inform them to stop payments as my daughter is due to start secondary school in September which means I don’t have to pay for childcare and it will put me over the threshold for what I earn to get CA.

when I spoke to the lady she was helpful and asked about my earnings as it differs each month depending on my hours. I was under the impression that these get reported to the carers allowance by HMRC each month but she said that was not the case.

when I have gone through my wages is for this year to double check I was under there were a couple of months it has gone over by £2/3. My question is do I need to report this ?? And will I need to pay it back as the full carers allowance as gets deducted my universal credit anyway (so I’ve never benefited from it). I only get to keep the carer element from U/C… and also the bigger factor will I get in trouble? I’m so scared of been prosecuted for a mistake. Maybe I’m overthinking it.. but I’m scared this flag up while there cancelling my claim and it will look like I’ve been deceitful.

any reassurance welcomed .

thanks

I realised today that I had put the wrong savings amount down when i applied for uc 4 years ago. I’d put £4800 and it should have been £7800. I have amended this today on my journal. Has anyone else been in a similar position and can advise me what will happen. Thankyou so much I am extremely worried and anxious about this

You won't be prosecuted, don't worry. If you have been overpaid believe me they'll be in touch lol. I assume you will just have to repay anything they deem as overpaid back
