Summer holidays:

we’ve already done our big (more expensive hols) so we’re on a budget

wwyd

Disneyland Paris marvel hotel (3 nights 4 days, and a day either side in a premier inn style hotel and self drive- dh likes the drive. We’ve already done a Disney hols this year but we do love Disney. Hotel has a pool.

OR

1 week self catering in Costa dorada. Self catering, we’d buy breakfast snack and some lunch stuff and then eat out for dinner and some lunches. 4 star and 4 star trip advisor short walk to the beach and town. Pool and splash pad for kids. The 4 star trip advisor worries me a bit.

Both are roughly the same cost.

kids are 5 and nearly 3 (not worried about them being too young for disney)

I wouldn't want to do two similar (ie Disney) holidays in the same year (although having been to both I know they are not the same!) so I'd pick Costa Dorada. I am biased though because I hated Disney Paris and would need to be paid to return!!!

MrsClownland · 17/07/2024 11:23

Where in the costa Darada though?

See I used to think it was crap but my kids like it, I think it’s when you compare to Florida, it obviously doesn’t.

draw to DLP is this is the cheapest I’ve ever seen marvel, it’s the marvel hotel at Cheyenne prices

Costa dorada personally.

MrsClownland · 17/07/2024 11:25

Maybe post this in holidays though? So people reading it might have opinions on the topic.
Ive just had my "big" holiday of the year and it's a bit annoying to see it referred to as a budget holiday, so I've decided you ABU!

No, I said we’re on a budget , there’s a difference

Personally hate Disney so I'd choose the latter.

AlmostAJillSandwich · 17/07/2024 11:27

I went to Salou at 14, it was brilliant. I'd pick that over Disney every time.

When?! What dates? I'm looking to go back- we went to marvel Hotel at DLP self drive via eurotunnel for 3 nights in May 2024 and it was £2200 ish. Looking to book again for next year. Book disney you won't regret it!

MrsClownland · 17/07/2024 11:28

There's not much in cap de Salou. Salou or Cambrils are much nicer, imo. So many hotels there to choose from. Also a great theme park and a water park though I can't remember how many child rides they have.

Parkmybentley · 17/07/2024 11:28

What a nice problem to have! Hope you have a lovely time wherever you go.

Lilnugget · 17/07/2024 11:28

Oh and the Spain holiday my eldest will miss her first day of reception, forgot to mention.

but she’s already in the nursery school and has had several settling in sessions already and is in the same class as her friends and they go back on a Friday

Remember the Olympics is on this summer in Paris which is why maybe it's coming up cheap - it's expected to be extremely busy.

Sounds like you would prefer DLP! Are these the only two options? Or have you looked at somewhere like Efteling if your two enjoy a theme park?

I think it's a big milestone, I personally wouldn't ever miss it with my kids but it's up to you
4 star Spain or basically 5 star at disney would be an easy choice for me!

Can I throw in a wild card? We've just got back from Efteling in the Netherlands. It's like a more chilled disney it was brilliant we all loved it. And only 1 hour from the airport by train. Would recommend as another alternative.

How much was it?

we looked at that before but wasn’t sold 100% as we weren’t sure what else was around
