Am I though, being unreasonable?
Okay, so it is late and we are both a bit the worse for wear...and have just had a row about lettuce...DP says the reason he didn't put lettuce in the shopping trolley this week was because he noticed I didn't wash it...
Pleae flog and beat me now but I don't tend to wash pre-packed veg - is that really so bad?
I can honestly say my home is dreamily clean and tidy - I keep things clean, hoover, mow the lawn and weed the garden - is it really so bad i don't rinse lettuce??
I can imagine if I'd pulled it out of the ground, covered in slug's trails and whatever other winged or other folk were on it, I would rinse it off, but my time is precious and I'm not dead yet and have not washed a single pre-packed lettuce in my life!!
I don't mind if you all faint in horror - please just tell me! I honestly can't see why DP is being so weird about this - but maybe Im weird - the great unwashed....

Organic lettuce should no more have greenfly than a sprayed one. Using ladybirds to eat the aphids would be a natural way of dealing with it.

Washing them won't kill the bacteria and salmonella bugs though, might prevent listeria though.

I never wash my pre bagged salad (except for when I was pregnant and a bit neurotic about stuff like that!) I thought that was the point of pre bagged stuff, that it was ready to eat.

I think if he wants it washing, tell him to bloody wash it! You aren't being unreasonable at all.
