I have to fly in September to Jamaica for a wedding. I am absolutely shitting it. The doctor won't give me anything to help me fly and I don't know what to do 😭
I haven't flown for 6 years, well before COVID but I have to fly for my son's wedding. I cannot not go. What do I do? I have no partner for support, my family are flying out for 2 weeks but I'm doing a week so not flying with anyone. I'm absolutely dreading it. Can anyone suggest a calming product that I can take??
AIBU in wanting a sedative from the doctor??
I'm even looking online for something/a tablet to help

OP you stand more chance of being kicked to death by a donkey than a plane crashing.

Seriously, statistically it's really safe.

If you can't get hold of a strong sedative then my advice is something like Piriton, the one without caffeine.

I fly long haul regularly for work, try and frame it differently. It's a lovely chance to just relax and watch movies, part of the holiday.

Apologies if I shouldn't have posted my experience of flying, but it helped me.

I take Xanax, which is prescribed where I am. I have looked into it, and think you can still get it for flights from a private GP. Try one out before so you know what to expect. I recently did my first flight in a long time without Xanax as it was only an hour, and I was nervous but think it has helped break the cycle a bit.
