Hi, appreciate your opinions on this. Our 2 year old has recently started at a local nursery. It is based in a local park in a building with a fenced outdoor area around it. Since starting my toddler seems to have settled well 2 mornings a week and seems happy on returning home, they talk positively about it. However I have had some reservations about staff not introducing themselves, not saying good morning or greeting the children on arrival. Their security consists of a padlock on the external gate, you ring their doorbell and someone comes to the door for drop off and pick up. When I went to collect today there was noone in the outdoor area and the key with a clearly visible brightly coloured lanyard had been left in the padlock. When one of the staff members came out I pointed this out and she said "I can see that" and nothing else, no apology or explanation. I was distracted then by greeting my toddler and getting his things together but on arriving home I've had time to think about it and am getting really angry. AIBU to expect the nursery to at least be secured by a locked door? Im more angry about the lack of proper acknowledgement or apology. Im going to put a complaint in writing and ask how this can be prevented in future but wanted to check if I'm overreacting/ what sort of security other nurseries have in your experience.
thanks very much
