This is a thread for people who want to enjoy the football ⚽️ tonight.

We are Scottish and supporting England. Watching from home with our kids (15 and 11). Got a few beers and irn brus in and some snacks.

Come on England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

(If you hate football there are loads of other threads to share your misery/anger/bile on. Off you pop to one of them).

Ah I kinda expected we'd lose but so hard to see ds upset after all the excitement and hope he had that England would win. Unfortunately it's a feeling he will probably have to get used to in his lifetime being the huge football fam that he is but hopefully one day he will see us bring it home 🙏

It's tough for the little's. My 10 year old was the same, elation at Palmers goal to fighting back tears at full time. We are a Spurs supporting family though so he is getting used to the hope followed by disappointment 😫

Does anyone else (of a certain age!) Remember when England lost in the semi finals in 1996 (Southgate missed penalty)after the match on the tv footage, they played the song, Walk away by Cast and showed all the players walking off the pitch looking really dejected.

That song comes into my head every time we lose at a major competition.

I remember this. I was 15, obsessed with football, and devastated.

These days, I watch the whole tournament and just try to enjoy the football, one game at a time.

I remember 1996! People were burning effigies of Southgate! Someone stuck a picture of him on the staffroom noticeboard and wrote "TRAITOR" on his face.
