Am I good enough to be a model or would I get laughed at if I approached an agency?

I’ve always wanted to model but always felt not good enough. I’m now in my early 30s so not sure if I’d be too old for it. I’m a curvy slim build so not sure if I’d be smooth or skinny enough for them. I’m decently pretty but I would need Botox done to smooth out my wrinkles to make myself look even younger (I do look young for my age)

I know that’s vain but modelling can be a very vain and hard industry to get into but I would love to give it a go. Have any of yous done it?

OP posts:

Yes that's a great idea. Get your baby into modelling. No better way for him to access opportunities.

Yes, not that there are any better uses of his childhood days. The childhood he only gets to live once.

I've scrolled through the petite page. Can you link one where it says the woman is 5ft 1 and size 12 or 14? Petite clothes are typically up to 5ft 3 and look best on that height.

There are literally over 1000 petite clothing options. Yes I’ve seen a 5ft 1, 12-14 model used. You can believe me or not believe. Regardless, OP says she is a size 8.

IncompleteSenten · 14/07/2024 19:46

Don't live your life through your child.
He's not a do-over.
Nor is he a toy.

StormingNorman · 14/07/2024 19:46

5.1 is too short for fashion, even catalogues. Short limbs just don’t photograph as well.

You are very attractive from what I can see on your other thread, but modelling is more about how you photograph rather than how you look IRL. Models aren’t always pretty and pretty people can’t always be models.

If you really do want to go for it, co spider character model agencies. They need people who look like ordinary people.

So there was one out of 1000? I scrolled through and all the ones I saw looked like a size 6 to 8, confirmed by the few I clicked on where they state the model's height (around 5ft 3) and size. A 12 to 14 would have stood out.

MexicanChiWowWow · 14/07/2024 20:05

🤨

TheShellBeach · 14/07/2024 20:06

There’s photoshopping AI etc so they can improve me a bit that way

Sigh.

TheShellBeach · 14/07/2024 20:07

I’m also gonna get my baby into baby modelling as I want him to have loads of opportunities in life

No educational aspirations then? Just modelling opportunities.

Right.

Great, so you can’t find it. Should I care? I don’t know how many there are out of 1000. I’ve been on ASOS a lot this week as looking for summer clothes, and yes, I saw one in my search. Do I need to say it a third time? I’m not scrolling through 1000 images to locate it for you.

She just completely ignores them. She never engages with posters.

And she bumps her own threads endlessly.

And? I she’s never been nasty to anyone.

You were the one who stated it existed. Did it say 5ft 1 and size 12 or 14 in the model's information or did you guess?

Yes, because it was claimed nobody used 5ft 1 curvy models. It said it on the information on ‘size and fit’. It was something maxi length and I looked as I am short and wanted to know how tall the model was. There are also well over 2000 plus size and curve items – again, I’m not locating it simply because you’re sceptical.

You’re getting a little obsessed now, so move on.

Maybe I should have done it younger then like I should have got the opportunity with a lot of things but didn’t as they were taken away from me. I’m also gonna get my baby into baby modelling as I want him to have loads of opportunities in life that I was denied from. There’s photoshopping AI etc so they can improve me a bit that way

Yes, because baby/child modelling isn't at all exploitative. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Op I'm sorry to be blunt. You absolutely are attractive but not model attractive and I think your body is wrong shape for conventional modelling. I think your obsession on your looks is a little unhealthy at the moment .

Maria1979 · 14/07/2024 21:40

Therapy would be my suggestion. You seem very young and out of touch with reality. I am not saying this is a nasty way, just stating the obvious in hope you do get help from a licensed psychologist to work with your selfesteem and life goals in order to live a good life with your child.

ThinWomansBrain · 14/07/2024 21:43

Friends partner - 40ish - approached in the street about modelling towards the end of last year. Making a reasonable amount from it. Is tall, but not amazing looking.
Has an appealing worried- middle-aged Dad look apparently.

BMW6 · 14/07/2024 21:47

OP you KNOW you are totally obsessed with your appearance. You are not happy are you. Not content.

Why in the name of Arse would you want your child to go into modelling which is ALL about appearance? Do you really want your child to develop the same hang-ups as you have?

You are unhappy. Do you want you child to be like you in 20 years, obsessing about how they look?

Eadfrith · 14/07/2024 21:58

My first instinct is to ask, is this for real?

A more serious answer would be to say that there is a modelling job for most people out there, but given that it is literally a career based on looks, and probably the ability to turn up to a shoot on time, you’d have to be either very photogenic or otherwise willing to do some kinky shit to actually get paid for it. The other avenue is being one of those odious influencers who make money from posting 1000’s of images of themselves on social media, and grow a following enough to be paid sponsorships. Facetune will do half the work for you.

The other serious answer is why do you care so much about how you look? There’s something deeper there that is a body issue that you’d do well to address. You’re thirty so you categorically don’t need botox.

Once again, you sound a little obsessed, so give it a rest.

It's perfectly reasonable to ask for proof that something exists.

Op your threads are bizarre and I have no clue why you start them as you completely let everyone's comments go over your head. Crack on with getting yourself and your baby into modelling then, see how that works out for you 👍👍 cba saying anything else at this point
