Am I good enough to be a model or would I get laughed at if I approached an agency?

I’ve always wanted to model but always felt not good enough. I’m now in my early 30s so not sure if I’d be too old for it. I’m a curvy slim build so not sure if I’d be smooth or skinny enough for them. I’m decently pretty but I would need Botox done to smooth out my wrinkles to make myself look even younger (I do look young for my age)

I know that’s vain but modelling can be a very vain and hard industry to get into but I would love to give it a go. Have any of yous done it?

You are almost certainly too short.

Thanks for your comments. I want to get into modelling as I want to achieve something for myself. I would have got into it in my teens or early 20’s if I didn’t have overbearing family and I kept slim throughout my teens and twenties. I lost weight over 5 years ago and kept a lot of it off. I’m 5ft 1in and about a size 8 or 10 depending on where I shop. I’m more of an 8 at the minute but on a weight loss journey and ideally would love to be a size 6 again. I want to maybe do catalogue or cosmetic brand modelling. I’m not going to show my full face on here but I’ll post girls who look similar to me who are YouTubers so you can judge that way

I'll say it again. Take some natural body shots and send them off to the many, many modelling agencies out there. Unless you're spotted out and about, its pretty much the only other way in. If you have what it takes, you'll be signed up

iamtheblcksheep · 14/07/2024 17:44

You’re about a foot too short and ten years too old. Honestly find something that you are going to be good at rather than chasing a pipe dream. I modelled at a young age. It’s not what you think it is.

PlatinumBlondeBarbie · 14/07/2024 17:46

I’m going to send pictures in to different agencies and see what happens

OP posts:
EmeraldSakara · 14/07/2024 17:50

5ft 1? Not happening, sorry. And that's before you take into account your age.

FateReset · 14/07/2024 17:52

Are you over 5ft10?

Very lean and slender?

If not it's highly unlikely you could be a model. Most are recruited in their teens and by 25 their career is often over.

Not necessarily. For the cat walk sure, but models of all shapes and sizes are used in all different sorts of advertising. The vast majority of work is thro agencies tho so you have to be signed up. Try it OP, you've nothing to lose, just be realistic

nothingcomestonothing · 14/07/2024 17:53

OP why do you post on MN? You never listen to anything anyone says to you.

And by the by, does it occur to you that other posters always clock it's you, even when you name change? That's because the stuff you post is out of the ordinary, to put it mildly. You are seeking happiness from outside of yourself and from superficial things, to the extent that strangers on the internet notice.

Please seek RL support so you can find fulfillment in your actual life with your child instead of chasing rainbows.

It's only that the OP said she was going to sleep train her baby from birth.

Well, maybe OP needs speaking to with some compassion or perhaps like a basic human being rather than with shitty sarcasm.

She's had shedloads of sympathy and suggestions that she seek MH support on previous threads. She has never appeared to take the slightest bit of notice of any of this, only honing in on responses that address the specifics of her appearance, or her plans to improve/alter/maintain it.

What's the point in people commenting on other people's bodies?

You could speak to the op in Klingon for all the good it does. They’re not here to pay attention, they’re here with a big old wooden spoon and using it well.

boho878 · 14/07/2024 18:56

I was a model and also a promotions girl for one of the big lager manufacturers. It's something that left me with life, long body and self esteem issues. If you want to go into modelling to feel confident, unfortunately, it will have the very opposite effect on you. At times it can be demeaning, degrading and downright soul destroying.

ReaIistically your age and height are against you for mainstream modelling. Glamour modelling, extra work or advertising work are possible although increasingly AI is being used for stock images.

I mean this as kindly as possible but maybe look at different ways to feel fulfilled. If you have to ask on a forum if you should send pictures in, you don't have the confidence to deal with the rejection and criticism modelling brings.

BMW6 · 14/07/2024 19:02

I remember your body photo from your previous thread OP.

Nope. Too old, too short, too "curvy". You look fine, perfectly normal, but not suitable for modelling.

As we've all said before, get some therapy.

S0livagant · 14/07/2024 19:03

5ft 1 won't work for even petite brands in clothing, they'll want the upper end for height and lower end for the size.

She’s never been nasty AF to anyone either.

ASOS uses 5ft 1 models of 12-14 size.

I've scrolled through the petite page. Can you link one where it says the woman is 5ft 1 and size 12 or 14? Petite clothes are typically up to 5ft 3 and look best on that height.

IncompleteSenten · 14/07/2024 19:18

I don't think that's true. Catalogues need models of different shapes and sizes and as pp have said, dove have that body positive thing going on.

There are so many different types of modelling available. It's not all young, tall and skinny. There are opportunities for others too

She just completely ignores them. She never engages with posters.

And she bumps her own threads endlessly.

There will be a lot fewer opportunities.

PlatinumBlondeBarbie · 14/07/2024 19:41

Maybe I should have done it younger then like I should have got the opportunity with a lot of things but didn’t as they were taken away from me. I’m also gonna get my baby into baby modelling as I want him to have loads of opportunities in life that I was denied from. There’s photoshopping AI etc so they can improve me a bit that way
