Am I good enough to be a model or would I get laughed at if I approached an agency?

I’ve always wanted to model but always felt not good enough. I’m now in my early 30s so not sure if I’d be too old for it. I’m a curvy slim build so not sure if I’d be smooth or skinny enough for them. I’m decently pretty but I would need Botox done to smooth out my wrinkles to make myself look even younger (I do look young for my age)

I know that’s vain but modelling can be a very vain and hard industry to get into but I would love to give it a go. Have any of yous done it?

OP, I think you might be a bit of a fantasist and perhaps rather unhappy?

I’ve always fancied myself as a astrophysicist. Do you think NASA will let me go on their next space mission?

I mean I guess they will if random strangers on the internet tell me I can do it.

You're never getting into NASA unless you change your username to AstrophysicistBarbie!

My friend is a model. Was scouted in her late teens. She is 5ft 10, very slim. She has done quite a lot of catalogue work, also campaigns for major brands. If I’m honest I would say in real life she has a straight up and down kind of shape, facially she is very even featured. She looks beautiful in the work I have seen. It is not her passion though, she basically works enough to pay for her lifestyle and to fund her horses. I’m sure there are many different types of model these days. You probably need to find an agency who will either take you on, or not. Definitely not for the faint hearted or anyone seeking external validation.

Luckingfovely · 14/07/2024 17:04

No, you're not going to make it in this field.

Next idea.

PortiaWithNoBreaks · 14/07/2024 17:08

You’ve posted a lot about your negative self image so I don’t think the constant rejection you’d get would be good for you.

Justcallmebebes · 14/07/2024 17:10

Take some natural photos, i.e., not caked in makeup and posing, and send them to a few reputable agencies. If you've got what it takes, they will snap you up

One of my DD's modelled for Storm, but she was snapped up at 17 and was spotted bizarrely at an am dram production. Her "modelling" career was finished within about 4 years tho as it's very, very competitive and you become too old very quickly

IncompleteSenten · 14/07/2024 17:12

Models of all shapes, sizes and ages are needed. Look at catalogues for example

If it's something you want to do then there's no harm trying to see if there's an agency that would have you.

How on earth can people advise without seeing you? And what kind of modelling?

You can look at her previous threads.

Absolutely not.

MartyFunkhouser · 14/07/2024 17:16

I used to model a bit when young. I think it’s pretty hard to get into when you’re older, tbh. But if you photograph well and have some decent shots, it’s not impossible.

Oh, is this the poster who was primarily concerned about how she was going to maintain her beauty regime with a newborn, and who was going to get liposuction so as not to 'become one of those frumpy middle-aged women'?

And now you want Botox and a modelling contract. Right.

It is.

Latest threads last week were about liposuction and getting a smooth body.

And one where she posted a picture of her friend, of whom she was jealous.

Despair1 · 14/07/2024 17:18

Wondering if you are young enough? Would you need botox? A definite NO, your self esteem will take an enormous bashing and you don't sound very confident. Love yourself for who you are

Bahsukdndhe · 14/07/2024 17:18

Botox won't make you look younger, it will make you look your current age with Botox 🤣

How's the baby BTW?

Have you sleep trained him yet?

DelythBeautyQueen · 14/07/2024 17:21

If you need botox or any kind of work to look good enough, then you don't look good enough. It's a very competitive industry and the majority of applicants will be naturally beautiful.

Didimum · 14/07/2024 17:25

More and more companies are being much more inclusive with the models they use – Dove, M&S, ASOS. High fashion is still rake thin, 5ft 10 18yr olds, but shoot for the moon, OP. Why not?

Took your nasty pills this morning, I see.

It's only that the OP said she was going to sleep train her baby from birth.

I don't understand what that's got to do with wanting to be a model. I don't think OP has much chance of succeeding as a model, given what she has told us, but why should sleep training her baby make any difference?

I believe it's meant as context that OP has form for posting delusional crap on MN. Like, that she would sleep train her baby from birth and he'd better be good at it. Or that she'd prioritise her dogs sleeping in her room over her baby. Or the time she regretted stopping smoking when pregnant as her friend carried on. Or her concern that having said baby mustn't impact on her time to make YouTube videos and get her nails and hair done.

OP, as I think I have said on every thread you make, please get mental health support and live a happy life with your child.

Is the same person who was wanging on about sunbeds and fake tanning too?

PlatinumBlondeBarbie · 14/07/2024 17:39

Thanks for your comments. I want to get into modelling as I want to achieve something for myself. I would have got into it in my teens or early 20’s if I didn’t have overbearing family and I kept slim throughout my teens and twenties. I lost weight over 5 years ago and kept a lot of it off. I’m 5ft 1in and about a size 8 or 10 depending on where I shop. I’m more of an 8 at the minute but on a weight loss journey and ideally would love to be a size 6 again. I want to maybe do catalogue or cosmetic brand modelling. I’m not going to show my full face on here but I’ll post girls who look similar to me who are YouTubers so you can judge that way

You could post the pictures of yourself which you put on your previous threads.

There's really no point posting pictures of other women!
