I was just wondering what people would advise.
I started a new job three months ago. I hate it, because of my line manager. I work in kind of like a call centre, in that we answer a lot of calls but we answer emails too and also deal with other departments.
There are ten of us and my team and the manager sits in the same room.
It's a very large room with many teams and hundreds of people in it. We sit in one corner of the room.
Our manager never speaks to us. She sits there doing her own work.
She constantly sends around emails to the team saying how badly we are doing.
That we are not doing this good enough, not doing that good enough. The emails are always negative. She used to send one a day and now she sends four a day. In the group email she will say, "to anyone who's performance was like this (under a certain percent) you will be receiving more emails from me later today asking you to explain why the happened.
She barely let's us talk to each other on the team. Everyone is afraid to even speak to each other on the groups team chat. We tried to do one fun thing on the group teams chat once, trivia questions, and she shouted at us for it.
We are all people in our thirties, many of us with degrees and she talks to us like we are two year olds.
She makes us write in the group chat when we are going on break and when we are back from break so she can see our movements to the minute.
It seems to be the corporate culture at that company. I complained about her once to her higher manager. I didn't say "Sarah's a bit h", I complained about my line manager not showing me certain things I needed to be shown to do the job, and that she was very unhelpful.
The senior manager dismissed me and said "no Sarah's great" without listening to any of my concerns.
I can't really speak up and complain anymore because I'm probation for six months and I'm sure if I Complain they'll just let me go.
Its just awful. Im applying for other jobs but I feel like I'm stuck in hell. Everyone else hates there too. I can't just quit as I wouldn't survive financially
