Would you expect them before 8am?

We have a company coming to fit our new front door tomorrow. They haven’t given a time, but have just said ‘morning’

I wanted to go out for a walk in the morning, I’d make sure to be back by 8. AIBU to think no company would come before 8?

YABU - coming before 8am is likely
YANBU - it’ll definitely be at least 8, if not more like 9

I’d say from 7am

TwinCheeks · 11/07/2024 22:22

Shouldnt be before 8 but may be shortly after.

leopardski · 11/07/2024 22:23

Roofers turned up at 7:30 for me once! They didn’t need to be let in though.
Can you just message them and tell them you’ll be available from 8?

Echodaisy7 · 11/07/2024 22:23

I'd say usually it'd be after 8, but to be honest if it was me I'd just skip the walk tomorrow just to make sure I'm there in case they do come early.

Asosbabe · 11/07/2024 22:24

They might but it's just one day. Personally I'd change the time of my walk

boredscottishpirate · 11/07/2024 22:24

I'd die of shock if they came before 8.30

boredscottishpirate · 11/07/2024 22:25

Should mention it's my job to send these people out. And it's awful you've not been given a more specific time.

MissedItByThisMuch · 11/07/2024 22:26

Phone them? They may not give you an exact time but they’ll know the “Won’t be before…” time.
Or just skip walking for one day or go after they’ve been?

I’ve left it a bit late now

Why didn’t you ask them for a more specific time when they emailed you?

UnNiddeRides · 11/07/2024 22:35

Just be back from your walk by 7:00 am or don’t go.

Bournetilly · 11/07/2024 22:39

I’d say from 7am too. They wouldn’t come before 7am, it will probably be after 8am.

MavisPennies · 11/07/2024 22:43

IME they always turn up ludicrously early.

LauderSyme · 11/07/2024 22:46

I had a new front door fitted last year. They said they would arrive anytime from 8am and were here by 9.

radio4everyday · 11/07/2024 22:54

Could you not skip the walk?

Tablesalt111 · 11/07/2024 22:55

I can't believe there is this many replies to this post. How on earth are we meant to know what time they will turn up..why did you not ask the company for more info? common sense says stay home one morning.

Don't count on it! Plan to stay in until at least 9am. If they haven't arrived by then, you can call them. Go and have your walk after they arrive. Or have your walk at 6am.

Some companies absolutely do start work before 8am.

MrsBobtonTrent · 11/07/2024 23:08

IME they often start earlier on a Friday in order to knock off earlier for the weekend. Most ring when 15 minutes away, so if you HAD to go walking stay local and take mobile (if they have that number).
