To go self catering in butlins

I’m about to book butlins - never been as an adult only in 80s as a kid. If I go self catering are there restaurants you can eat in and pay rather than go all inclusive? Shops on site? Also which is better Skegness or minehead? Thanks

We've been all over, to Florida, on cruises on Celebrity and Royal Caribbean, Hard Rock Hotel...etc etc. My kids favourite holiday destination remains Butlins at Skegness! Have a brilliant time.

(For info, for next time- Minehead itself is lovely. The site isn't as good as Skegness, but the lakeside lodges are great and the surrounding area is really pleasant)

Same here, but its Butlins Bognor they still go on about. I only stay in the hotel though.

We've been and did the meal plan. Choice of 2 buffet style restaurants and the food has been really decent. If you go self catering and eat in the on site venues it's expensive.
Cooking in the chalet wouldn't be ideal as there's not a lot of stuff there to make much.

Depends what you eat of course. For the price of the meal plan I'd go for that.
Loads of choice and if your kids are old enough to go and help themselves it's great.
