They wont go where I go - original Stevie Wonder, covered by George Michael. It's just perfect in every single way.

AIBU or do you think there is a better cover???

More of a mash up than a cover but Freak Like Me by Sugababes is such a cool pop gem.

i also have a fondness for Joss Stone’s version of Fell In Love With a Girl,

A lot of people don’t realise you don’t actually need permission to release cover versions, from either the original artist or the songwriters. As long as you don’t change the lyrics or arrangement, you can cover what you like.

Sugababes version of Freak like me is a true cover. The original was by Adina Howard and came out in the mid 90s

Jealous Guy - Roxy Music (although done as a tribute to John Lennon, it's still excellent)
Bad Romance - Halestorm (everything the original should have been)
Cum On Feel The Noise - Quiet Riot

You Really Got Me - Van Halen

love halestorm and lady gaga - just listened to the cover and it is so much better than the original! :-o

The Animals' version of House of the Rising Son is a cover of an earlier US version of a traditional English folk song.

It's absolutely the best cover mentioned on this thread IMHO!
