Can’t get my ring off!

I am going for surgery today. It is a local anaesthetic on my toe. Had this procedure before on the toe a few years ago. They are saying that to have this procedure I must get my wedding ring off. I’ve tried the string trick and lots of soap etc many times since they told me this last night. I can’t get them off at all! They are fine until my knuckle but won’t go past the knuckle.
what can I do? Will the op be cancelled? I’m panicking and my finger is now sore where I’ve tried so many times!
can’t understand why this is needed for a local on my toe?!

It will be fine, it's local anesthetic on your toe. Just tell them you cant get it off- I can see why they would need to cancel the procedure.

Have they said why? That seems a bit mad. Even with a general anaesthetic, they just taped my wedding ring to keep it safe and stop it getting caught on anything.

Anyway... tried placing your finger in a bowl of iced water for as long as you can (you might have to dip it in and out). It can help temporarily shrink your finger.

This happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I haven't taken mine off for twenty three years. I tried so many different things for three days.

This was when we had those hot days and the more I tried the bigger my finger seemed to get so I held my whole hand in a bowl of cold water then whipped it out and sprayed it with cooking on and they came off.

I don’t understand why they need to come off. Didn’t even take them off for my c section. They were taped over for the emergency section under GA.
I haven’t taken them off in 13 years. My finger is so sore. Going to have one last go with iced water and then give up!

Olive oil? Hope your surgery goes ok

If you can't get them off, you can't get them off. Just tell them and they'll prob tape them instead. I work in a hospital and have never known an operation being cancelled because the patient couldn't get their rings off.
