ask for help and suggestions for a specific type of gift that can be delivered?

I have a friend who is in a difficult situation and helping a lot of other people - she's a saint really but is very down in the dumps as she's under a lot of pressure from all sides. She deserves something cheering. I'd like to send her a gift that can be delivered that would bring her a bit of fun to her door.

I'm looking for something a bit unusual that would be cheery and fun rather than pampering - so not flower, chocolate, alcohol or those sort of gift boxes that you fill with pampering things. and something that is immediately there and then - so not a voucher for a massage or spa.

I was thinking of something like a squishmallow cuddle toy - a bit joyful and silly - but that isn't quite on point as a bit childish - but meets the immediate, joyful and cheerful brief.

but then got stuck for something better.

Any ideas?

Possibly not appropriate but there’s a company that sends a 3ft cardboard cutout penis through the post. They do one with the message ‘Keep Your Pecker Up’. Only you know whether that would make her laugh or not.

TheGrimSqueakersFlea · 10/07/2024 20:37

@Yellowpingu so many questions.

How did you discover this?

In that vein (see what i did there) how about a lifesize cardboard cut out of her favourite celebrity.

It came up on social media and I might* have sent one anonymously to my BIL because he’s a prick.

*definitely did. I’m a bad person

What about a personalised pork pie? Obviously not if she's Jewish or veggy, but everyone loves a pork pie, and you could have it personalised to say"cheer up!" or similar. It would cheer me up no end, quite honestly.

TwinCheeks · 10/07/2024 20:44

What about a comedy cushion? Its a bit like a hug through the post.

BlossomWood · 10/07/2024 21:01

A celebrity message. My other half got me one from Ricky Tomlinson (Jim Royale), it was brilliant.
It used to be called celeb vm but they've changed to hi-ya.com/

If someone sent me a pork pie in the post I'd no longer be their friend!!

thatstakingalongtimetoboil · 10/07/2024 21:22

A really good bullet vibrator ?

Kneeslikethese · 10/07/2024 21:23

I'd be made up with a pork pie!

HelpMeRhondaMe · 10/07/2024 21:24

No penises or vibrators! This has taken a downward turn 😀

It's not that sort of friendship!

And she is down not horny!!!

@TwinCheeks what kind of thing do you mean as a acomedy cushion?

I was hit by a car at weekend and one of my lovely friends sent me a Just Eat voucher so that I don't have to worry about cooking when I feel up to eating, could be something nice for your friend to take some of the pressure off?

Alwaystired2023 · 10/07/2024 21:27

Food? Nice cake / brownies? Hamper from a nearby deli? There's a vegan brownie company called Cake or Death (poss London only) that send lovely boxes that always go down well xx

@TwinCheeks sorry but I find those dog face cushions a bit scarey!
the pug one looks like he's being held hostage and is trying to communicate without saying so in front of his captors.

M&S do a letterbox selection of Colin’s and their sweets selections.

imeanwhy · 10/07/2024 22:35

Can you do in real life those messages delivered by a group of people signing acapela? That you see in movies? I always thought they would be fun and they'd definitely make me smile with the right song / ensemble if I were down
