So AIBU in thinking Zac Efron would have made a better Ken in the Barbie movie (no offence to Gosling, I bloody love Gosling)

But wtf Zac! What have you done to your absolutely beautiful, didn't-need-changing face!?

Sat watching Family Affair on Netflix and he's barely recognisable! Only his mouth moves. Everything else is frozen/botoxed. Even his lips look like they've had fillers... he's 36!!!

I accept Nicole Kidman's work at almost 60 fair enough. But why has Zac felt the need to freeze his already beautiful face?! 😫

I just started watching this film this evening and had to google who he was?

I'm not a big film watcher but genuinely thought he was in his mid 40s before I saw he was 36.

And Nicole Kidman's acting was simply awful so I switched off.

It was such a cringy film.

OP I totally agree he was born to play Ken! I genuinely said this to my friend in the cinema when we went to watch Barbie. Ryan did a great job but Zac would’ve suited the role perfectly, he’s very good in funny roles too.

I was surprised that it was him in the film. I heard that Zac Efron was in it but thought he must be playing another part. That said as the film went on I did get used to his face and saw the similiarities between young Zac and older Zac although whatever the work is he's had done - the jaw stuff obviously and some other stuff but hard to figure out what - has made him look older than 36. I think that's what's must disconcerting, he looks mid to late 40s. Anyway, I think that's the way to look at it. Imagine he's ten years older and it makes far more sense.

I like the way he looks and enjoyed the film whilst acknowledging that my expectations were exceptionally low that night. I sometimes don't mind if a romcom is a bit shit as long as a little bit of it makes me briefly happy.

I still think he's lovely. Okay I didn't know about the accident, and I felt bad after finding out. But with all the work people have, especially celebs these days I do often think why do they do this to their already-beautiful faces? But okay he had jaw surgery, fair enough.. I didn't know that.

But on another note. Yes I do think he would have made a better Ken!

Just googled him, he looks totally different from The Greatest Showman, that's what I know him from. I thought from one photo he is starting to look a bit like David Hasselhof then noted he was in a Baywatch movie 🤔

Yeah, he has had surgery, but there are very clearly some exogenous hormones going on as well, considering the change to his body. He did the wrestler movie which was really good I assumed it had something to do with that.

I also don't think it is unreasonable to be shocked the way his face has been changed.

I agree OP. Apparently Zac Efron had an accident where he hurt/fractured his jaw some years ago, but how he looks is nothing to do with that. He is 100% frozen and botoxed, and it has ruined his lovely pretty boy face. He looks so strange now.

Nicole Kidman looks odd too. Waaaay too much fillers and botox. (And at least one face lift.)

I can't take them seriously as actors now, because the way they have filled their face with fillers ruins it for me.

Kathy Bates who is in the film - Family Affair - looks so much better than Nicole Kidman IMO. Just so normal. I know Kathy is 20 years older than Nicole. But at 57 Kathy looked much better than Nicole does now at the same age.

THIS was Kathy Bates at 57! (Pic 1.) So pretty and just so normal looking. Nicole Kidman at 57 (pics 2 and 3,) looks alien-esque now, with the facelift, and all the fillers and botox. Why do these actresses do this to themselves? Nicole was soooo pretty before!

And here's a Zac Efron comparison - before and after. Soooo pretty before. He is unrecognisable now. Also, as other posters have said, all the fillers have made him look older than he is. Hard to believe he is only 36. He looks like he's in his mid 40s IMO.

It's like the girls/young women in Love Island. Most have had fillers and botox, which traditionally is meant to make you look younger yes? Yet every one of them who have had it looks a clear decade older. Some have aged even more than that with all the botox and fillers!

He had the accident in 2013 but had a normal jawline until 2020. Come on, Zac...

Nah i domt believe his changed just because of his jaw. He is broke his jaw bit he definitely do more. It a plastic surgery fail. He clearly put filler on the lips too. I was so in love with him when i was teenager. I really dont understand why he change his perfect face. And it’s definitely not just because of the jaw. He is too plasticky now

I feel bad for him as he's received a lot of crap online however I do think he looks like a young David Hasselhoff now.

He looks almost CGI now (just watched Ricky Stanicky tonight - quite funny actually!).

The story of having to get his jaw rebuilt is trying to cover. It did happen, but years ago. Way before he started to look so different. I also remember a while ago he had a lot of swelling in some video call or something and said it was because of a ‘dentist visit’ or something along those lines.

He has 100% had work done. It’s very obvious and he looks exactly like others who’ve had plastic surgery and botox. I think he’s tried to get rid of the feminine, pretty look he had and tried to make himself look more butch and chiseled but it’s backfired massively.

Teenage me absolutely loved him, now I can’t look at him, he gives me the ick. I think it’s also partly how arrogant he’s become.

Before anyone starts about being judgemental of how someone looks etc, it’s different if they’ve deliberately spent thousands to make themselves look worse on purpose!

I was quite happy watching him in his Down to Earth series. The beard was hiding a lot.

Sadly he has gone down the Liam Payne route. Just WHY do both male and female celebrities think surgery, botox etc improves their looks? It's sad because it almost never does and actually does exactly the opposite of whatever it is that they are actually trying to achieve.

He has lip fillers which are either badly done or just don’t suit him, he had small lips beforehand but they suited his face perfectly, now they’re all wide and weird looking.

I always feel there's something vulnerable about Zac Efron. He was a child star and as we know child stars often encounter some dark shit in Hollywood. His drink and drug addictions (think he's now sober) and creating this whole new face might be a reaction to that.
