MISSING PERSON - To ask you all to memorise his face

Jack went missing in Bristol, Hotwells area on the 2nd of March after a house party. It’s been 18 weeks and no further clues.

The police have been useless and his family are now relying on word of mouth to get Jacks story out there

Why is this not in the mainstream news but we keep hearing about that eegit in Tenerife?

What's an eegit?

The poor family must be distraught. Has he not got a tracker on his phone so they can see his last location?

Scentedjasmin · 10/07/2024 23:25

It's been extremely well publicised in Bristol. Every day I get several posts and videos on my FB feed. There are huge posters up everywhere and it has been covered extensively by local news. Unfortunately the brother of the victim has said that he'd been drinking and tripped and hit his head at the party. He appears disoriented by the route that he took, which is pretty much surrounded on all sides by water. Sadly, I think that the police's hypothesis that he ended up in the water is the most likely, but armchair detectives do like a conspiracy theory to solve. There has been extensive searching of CCTV and dashcam footage etc.

I emailed the Daily Mail. I know it’s a trash paper but that’s not really the issue now.
I shared the email address in my earlier post.
What about if we also mass email the BBC etc?
Also @mumsnet please can you help - can you boost this thread somehow? Thank you 🙏🏻
I don’t know the lad or his family but I am a mum of a teenage boy so I want to help.

It has been covered in the DM and other papers.

Erm, what's that got to do with it?

It has, although in North Bristol and still a lot of people at my workplace etc that haven’t heard a thing about it. I think once you know about it you become more aware and start seeing posters because you recognise his face.

Thousands and thousands of people go missing every day the police can't put every police officer out looking for every single missing person so how are they useless?

There is only so many police to cover all the endless crimes let alone missing people

usernother · 11/07/2024 08:43

It's been publicised everywhere I think. I live at the other end of the country and I know the story and recognised him straight away.

Is it true that thousands and thousands of people go missing every day?

Does anyone know how many people are actually reported missing in the UK every day?

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 11/07/2024 09:42

I think it's true @TheYearOfSmallThings . 170,000 people in the UK annually, according to the Guardian. Seems an incredible number.

That is insane! It does explain why the police aren't leaping into action immediately, because clearly 99% of those missing people turn up safe and sound.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 11/07/2024 10:14

I have to admit I was shocked too.

Thefaceofboe · 11/07/2024 13:30

Praying the news that’s come out isn’t related to Jack. Police found what they believe is human remains in 2 suitcases near Clifton suspension bridge

Horrendous

I just heard about that. That’s shocking. I instantly thought it’s the same area as jack went missing.

Oh no. How absolutely awful

ButtSurgery · 11/07/2024 16:29

Vanishingly unlikely the two incidents are linked.

Someone was seen leaving the suitcases there yesterday - in fact he arrived by taxi and walked off 10mins before police arrived. Taxi has been identified, car seized and driver being interviewed.

redbusbeepbeep · 11/07/2024 17:20

@ButtSurgery why is it unlikely? Same area for a start. Fingers crossed it’s not Jack but awful whoever it is.

No. Many turn up dead. But it is true that a lot of them are not missing for very long

Of course it’s awful but this is a thread about Jack so obviously I hope it’s not him…
