MISSING PERSON - To ask you all to memorise his face

Jack went missing in Bristol, Hotwells area on the 2nd of March after a house party. It’s been 18 weeks and no further clues.

The police have been useless and his family are now relying on word of mouth to get Jacks story out there

I can only begin to imagine the nightmare that his parents, family and friends are enduring. I hope and pray that Jack is safe and will be found,

sweeneytoddsrazor · 09/07/2024 13:08

This has been covered a lot locally and there was a thread on here about the case last week.
He was very near the water and it is quite possible he entered the water in the tidal river which would mean he could be almost anywhere

RivkaTheBold · 09/07/2024 13:48

Considering that Jack looked unsteady on his feet in the CCTV and had fallen and banged his head before leaving the party, (possible concussion) it seems most likely that the poor lad is in the water. He crossed over a couple of very precarious parts of it.

With it being tidal around there sadly he may never be found.

I'm absolutely gutted for his parents going through this.

I agree tbh, but I think that due to cctv showing him walking away from the water is giving his parents hope. It’s very very unlikely he’s alive but I suppose as a parent you never give up hope

I think also if you know the area, you’d know it would be quite hard to fall into the water, you’d need to climb or be pushed. His phone also pinged a little way away from the water edge which was the last known location so there’s a lot of uncertainty

I do know it a bit and there's a couple of places he could have slipped in if he actually went that way when he disappeared off the CCTV.

I would dearly love him to turn up in a shelter like they're all hoping. I can't even begin to understand how his family are coping. They seem so close, even down to Jack texting his mum to tell her he was heading home soon etc.

It's honestly heartbreaking. I will keep sharing his photo.

I agree - it’s quite rare to be missing 18 weeks later. Horrendous for his family

Indeed.

So for the long term missing or after x period of time it would be possible to do a round up of missing people at the end of the news. It might trigger some information

sweeneytoddsrazor · 10/07/2024 17:16

I know the area and there are definitely places he could have fallen in. It is far to common in Bristol, this is why many people believe there could be someone pushing people in. I wont speculate on that, but plenty of young lads on their way home from a night out do end up in the water

I'm happy to speculate about the "Bristol pusher", it's bollocks. Young men, alcohol and water are a very bad combination.

OP and anyone not familiar, no it would not have been very difficult for him to have fallen into the river. And the horrible and blunt truth is that if he did fall into the river it's quite possible he will never be found. The river Avon has the second highest tidal range in the world. It's a dangerous river- fast, a strong current and full of debris and mud.

Of course it’s possible but like I said as CCTV shows him going away from the water, that’s the reason to think this might not be the case. I think as soon as people start just presuming he fell in the river, the searching will stop and his story will stop being spread and that’s not what we want. Until Jack is found all angles should be considered

Its not rare, there are literally thousands of people who are missing in the uk who have been missing far longer, and there are hundreds of dead bodies that are never identified, as well

rubbish, you just don't appreciate the numbers. There are thousands and thousands of people in the uk that have been missing longer than this.

You can't have a "round up of them at the end of the news".

You are quite the negative with your answers aren't you! Glad you're not in charge of missing people, just give up then.

Well, obviously not someone missing since the 1950's but people from a particular area in the last 12 months. It is possible. There are ways to increase who sees requests for information. Worth a try for the relatives waiting in anguish.

I read about this one today, had never heard it before and this isn’t very far from me.
I don’t understand why some cases of missing people get lots of coverage in the news and others like this go under the radar. It’s very unfair.

I have not heard of Jack disappearing - and I spend some time in Bristol each month. I hope he is found safe and well.

But I agree @YourMommaWasASnowblower . It is possible to compare the coverage of Nicola Bulley with that of Toby Burwell. Both missing within a month of each other.

why is being realistic called "negative"? People are suggesting things that could not possible happen, and would not help if they did happen. Thats the actual truth. It isn't "negative" to say so. I had to report someone missing just a few weeks ago. I know very well what the real life situation is

Why are you getting so defensive? Fine lots of people go missing but lots of people get more courage than others, and I just think it’s really sad. Jack deserves to get his name and face out there, as do other missing people.

I sympathise for all missing people and their families but this one is close to me and naturally it hits home

Shared on instagram by Kasabians drummer. Things like this is only possible by people sharing and getting Jack’s story out there

It's not been tried here, so you don't actually know if it would work. If a couple of short stories were shared with information it might work but hey ho don't try it because padlock says it won't 🙄work. I'd rather try than do nothing.

At least you are trying. Some just say it's not worth bothering 🙄 keep sharing and hopefully someone might know something

I have experience of a male relative going missing and it is extremely difficult to get any media support. I desperately hope Jack is found and soon, my heart goes out to him and his family.

Needanewnamebeingwatched · 10/07/2024 20:27

I'm sorry to say, but he most probably fell in and has been swept out to sea and most probably will never be found.

My husband has spent many a day looking for body's in various locations as a police diver.

Squirrelsnut · 10/07/2024 20:34

It's the Severn that has the second highest tidal range.. not that it matters. Poor, poor boy. I have a DS a bit younger and my heart breaks for his family.

Newsenmum · 10/07/2024 21:47

I’m so sorry about this poor young man. Bumping for more attention.

lazzapazza · 10/07/2024 22:16

Why is this not in the mainstream news but we keep hearing about that eegit in Tenerife?

FusilliGeri · 10/07/2024 22:29

There are thousands and thousands of people in the uk that have been missing longer than this.

How many of the thousands and thousands who are missing have gone missing in circumstances like these? Where they have a stable home life and are in education or who work. Who don't have any record of mental health problems or drug/alcohol abuse. Who were living a life where they were making plans, seeing friends, doing things with their families etc.

Most missing people are missing for short time before they turn up and there is usually a catalyst as well as ongoing issues.
