i have a liquid blush. Used once. £££. Would be easily resold/reused, but vinted say new only

OP posts:
GoldViper · 07/07/2024 09:13

Have you still.got the packaging? If so, put on vinted, say its brand new and then in the comments put, used once doesn't suit. Most people on vinted are happy to buy used if it's practically new.

maw1681 · 07/07/2024 09:22

Because it's gross? Give it to a friend to try instead!

Lavenderblossoms · 07/07/2024 09:23

Due to hygiene purposes. You should know this.

Is this a goady post?

Try D pop.

Geiyotue · 07/07/2024 09:24

My local recycling Facebook group regularly has offers of part used makeup and they are always snapped up within minutes so I assume there is also a market for selling them. You'll just need to find the right places, probably on Facebook rather than vinted or eBay.

I personally don't think it's grim and would happily use makeup that had been previously used by someone else.

FateReset · 07/07/2024 09:28

How would buyers know how long it had been open?

The seal is proof it hasn't been tampered with. People could fill empty bottles/tubes with a cheaper product and resell as 'used once'

Nobody should risk putting expired or contaminated product on their face, especially near eyes or mouth. Lots of potentially serious infections can spread this way!

willWillSmithsmith · 07/07/2024 09:32

Used only once might as well be used a hundred times. They would no more buy that than someone’s used knickers (even though they’ve only been worn once and washed).

Toooldforthis36 · 07/07/2024 09:33

Gross, I’d never buy used makeup

Really?? Ew I couldn’t, not even if it had been a friend’s.

Please don't do this. It's a real pita trawling through loads of mislabelled items.

I mean, most of the makeup.on vinted is used. Surely this is well known?

I volunteer in a charity shop and we won't sell second-hand make up for hygiene reasons. Only if the seal is unbroken or it is clearly unused. Straight in the bin. Doesn't matter what it cost new, and whether it's Primark or Chanel.

It's similar to the policy of not selling underwear unless new with tags, swimwear has to have the plastic hygiene strips, etc.

Funnywonder · 07/07/2024 09:51

Some used makeup is possibly ok - I suppose anything in a tube. Even then, you wouldn't know if it had been stored in, for example, extreme heat, which could cause it to separate or go off. Other types of makeup, with lids that open, such as blusher or eyeshadow etc, would have been exposed to bacteria and started to deteriorate - and brushes and applicators would be rubbed on skin, then swept across the block of makeup again. Shudder. No ta.

Bleurfghjj · 07/07/2024 09:03

People do buy swatched make up but you’re just in the wrong place. Try dedicated facebook groups.

My mum buys that shite

thecatsthecats · 07/07/2024 09:54

If someone gets you an expensive gift and you don't know if it will suit you, best go try out the shade with a tester in the shop, then you can return or sell the original intact.

Harrumphhhh · 07/07/2024 09:55

Hahaha. MN is sometimes completely out of touch with the real world. No matter how hygienic (or not) most posters think it is, the used make up market is usually pretty vibrant!

I suspect you’re trying to charge too much OP. I tend to wait until I’ve got a bundle of products, then put them on FB marketplace. They’re snapped up in minutes.

Either: click the ‘new’ button on vinted, then explain in the comments OR sell as a bundle on marketplace.

GiveOverAndOver · 07/07/2024 10:02

You're just in the wrong place. Put it on ebay, people do buy used stuff.

MrsKwazi · 07/07/2024 10:03

you really need to ask?!?!?!

Wexone · 07/07/2024 10:03

Sorry you can there are dedicated Facebook marketplace pages and also you can sell on depop. I have bought everything from lipsticks to fake tan. with lipsticks just cut the top off and spray with disinfecting. videos on YouTube how to do it
make up artists don't buy brand new make up for every person they work on do they ?

have you never got your make up fibe at a counter or by a make up artist then ?

Nanny0gg · 07/07/2024 10:18

EW. Ew. Ewwww

You would have no idea where it's been or what conditions it's been kept in.

Or how clean

I think there's a fair bit of difference between a professional doing it with (presumably) properly cleaned and stored products, and buying off some random person on the internet, no?

CloseCloseCloser · 07/07/2024 10:22

I worked with a guy and his mum sold face cream that she had used, I’ve no idea if she had advertised it as such but he said she did, and it was very expensive, but I was horrified.

They were an odd family though, from things he used to tell me.

yoi can do it yourself again when you buy it. it's not hard plenty of disinfecting sprays you buy -boots sell them. trays and pots to decant stuff. you tube to see how to do it. you can clearly see from pics the condition its in. most of time is like op used once. foundation bought wrong shade.
