Why does his Google history show he was at an industrial estate at night

Last night I was on Dh’s phone-not snooping…initially at least. I was turning lullaby music off that he and our dc had fallen asleep to.
It showed the travel history of where he’d been/been driving etc. I just thought it was quite interesting at first, don’t think I have it on my phone or if I do, no idea how to access it! I started looking and it was all pretty boring-travel to work, certain shops, cafes etc, a friends house. One entry from last Sunday shows him going out in the evening driving for 30 minutes, it says here no location/location not shown. Then from around 10.30-11.30 pm, it shows a location and when I looked at it, it’s an industrial estate. This is really strange isn’t it?! Making me so paranoid, what would you make of it?

Maybe ask him? Failing that stick an AirTag under the seat of his car - that way you’ll know if he’s actually going someplace strange or if google is acting up!

Do not do this. This is terrible advice.

Louise303 · 07/07/2024 06:09

I would not confront him at first maybe you can go to the location at night and see what type of activity is going on. There is a couple of industrial estates miles from where we live that prostitutes go to. Google the industrial estate with words like prostitute etc you may get hits from local forums. We found about the ones near us on local forums residents nearby complaining about it.

ScarlettSunset · 07/07/2024 06:20

I think you need to check what's there really.
It could be something like drugs or prostiutes etc, but it could also be something entirely innocent.
Where I live a lot of cheap gyms have opened up on industrial estates recently, so it could even be something like that.
The timeline history could easily be wrong too. Mine says I visited Edinburgh recently. I'm hundreds of miles from there and I think I'd remember if I'd made that journey!

Shoemadlady · 07/07/2024 06:37

Why don't you google red light district and see what comes up in your area? That's what I'd be thinking to be honest. I'm sorry that's awful

fib88 · 07/07/2024 07:08

Did you check his mobiles calls list just prior and after this jaunt? Failing that, I’d say somebody saw you out the other night near x what were you doing?

TeeBee · 07/07/2024 07:17

I would have just assumed popped out for a McDonald's or a cigarette and sat there to enjoy it and some peace and quiet. I wouldn't have jumped to prostitute.
Some industrial estates have a gym. Would that be it? Perhaps met a mate on their way out for a natter?

MadameMassiveSalad · 07/07/2024 07:46

How do you check your google steps?

MadameMassiveSalad · 07/07/2024 07:51

StandingMyGround888 · 06/07/2024 18:10

I'd be mightily pissed off if i stopped for a bit and was then tracked and speculated about. He could easily have gone out for something to eat, a smoke, a chill out with music, a long phone call. Why does everyone's mind immediately jump to prostitutes and dogging?

This.

Flatdog · 06/07/2024 18:38

Prostitutes or having an affair.

These replies are so unhelpful Op. just ignore these idiots.

Nachosanddips · 06/07/2024 19:27

@sandragreen Its not every other night, he goes to his friends for a couple of hours a couple of times a week
I seriously didn’t think this was odd

It's not odd.

DogInATent · 06/07/2024 17:18

Definitely furries.

(although probably something much more mundane, either a kebab van or he plays Pokemon and there's a gym there with a rare spawn)

I’d wondered about a gym too, mine is on an industrial estate.

PinkChesnut · 07/07/2024 08:07

Maybe he is a serial killer? Am being serious.

ElTortilla · 07/07/2024 08:14

There's an industrial estate here that has loads of cash and carries etc. At night it's deserted apart from the prostitutes and there are loads.

MorvernBlack · 07/07/2024 08:19

Stop snooping and stop listening to Mumsnet crazy theories.
Location apps aren't always accurate, my Google history misses things out as it doesn't always recognise places. Life 360 thinks my OH works in the middle of a car park down the road from where he actually works.
I also park up random places and sit and chill or read a book, just for some peace. I've occasionally had a snooze. I'm certainly not dogging, or meeting flurries or any other crazy stuff 😆

namechangefandango · 07/07/2024 08:25

In the uk some brothels operate from industrial estates. I hope you get the answer you seek OP

charabang · 07/07/2024 08:30

I'd keep quiet for a bit. Check out to see if his locations match with where he says he is. There is a way of checking locations on Facebook too as many people arent aware and don't disable the feature.

Jomumtogirls · 07/07/2024 08:37

The real issue here is trust. People on here have said that they have known their locations to be all over the place. You snooped and found more than you bargained for. You've not said anything yet because you are actually quite reasonable and don't want to rock your world without proof. If it's going to eat you alive inside I think you're going to need to come clean. Explain what happened and start an honest discussion. It's alright people on here suggesting prostitutes although that is absolutely how and where it happens, it won't do you any good. Overthinking causes more problems than anything else.

rainydays03 · 07/07/2024 08:49

Maybe the location wasn’t accurate? I can log into netflix sometimes and it will tell me my location is 400 miles from where i'm actually sat - even iCloud does this sometimes! I’m sure there’s a perfectly reasonable explanation - he may have picked a friend up from a gym there - could literally be anything. Put it to the back of your mind, if he’s given you no reason to not trust him then leave it at that.

MaisieMacabe · 07/07/2024 08:57

It's an unusual person who goes out without their phone.

MaisieMacabe · 07/07/2024 08:58

What country are you in, OP?

Augustus40 · 07/07/2024 09:04

Placemarking this thread. I personally thought streetworkers straightaway.

1983Louise · 07/07/2024 09:05

It's an unusual person who goes out without their phone.

i often leave my phone at home (I’m not even particularly old, mid 40s). I just don’t remember or deliberately leave it behind as don’t want to lose it or be bothered while I’m out. My OH does find it quite annoying and we have a young son so I probably should have it when I’m out with him but I managed for the first 20 or so years of my life with no phone.
anyway, sorry for slight derail, I just felt compelled to comment!

RisingSunn · 07/07/2024 09:11

Sometimes google maps etc are inaccurate. Reason why Ubers sometimes can’t find your pick up location for example.

Allfur · 07/07/2024 09:11

You managed without a phone when you were a toddler...
