To think that the election results don't add up?

How did LibDem get 70 odd seats and Reform 4 when Reform got 14% of the vote. I mean, I understand how it works... but it's hardly cause for LibDem's 'greatest result' ever is it? I bet Nigel is fuming. And rightly so.

Locally the LD campaign was complete and utter shite. Invisible.

My Green candidate increased her share of the vote from 3% four years ago to 20%, through hard graft, walking for miles, talking to her constituents and putting the hours in.

Up here the turkeys are already online complaining about the Labour incumbent, who is so arrogant she didn't even turn up at the hustings. But they voted for her FFS.

Long term the ones that do the work will be the winners.

They may have voted green instead of tory. If the green vote increased to 20%, that could have been enough to put Labour in without more people voting Labour... so maybe they didn't

The Lib Dems, like Labour, had a very targeted campaign, concentrating resources where they could win. It paid off. It does mean they won’t really have campaigned in some seats though - and as @BeyondMyWits says, tactical voting played a huge role in this election.

I disagree, all parties should have the same opportunities, regardless if they are left, right or somewhere else. Also it used to be one man, one vote, as everyone's vote should be equal. As we've now got more equality, it should be one person, one vote. That is real and genuine democracy!

It is still one person one vote.

However depending what constituency you live in it doesn't mean your vote will help change the MP.

This is the first election I've voted in since 2010 where I wasn't voting in a marginal constituency. Basically my MP now has a safe seat.

Also if you want "fairer" voting systems then start looking across at other European countries e.g. France with two-round system, and see that even with them there are issues.

I know from sources at the counts that Labour local campaigners were very happy to lose when Lib Dems won, and vice versa. I don't know what happened in the seats that the Greens won from the Tories.
