Been in two houses this week. No windows open. Bloody stuffy, makes me feel uncomfortable.
I always open my windows and can't stand sitting in a room or a house where there is no fresh air.
I know it's cold in the winter but at this time of year I can't stand it.
🙄
Get the window open . Lol.

Are you a burglar?

To quote the op LOL 😂

Op it's cold and wet where I am ill open my windows when "summer" arrives.

Stripesandchecks543 · 05/07/2024 08:45

I am with you op!

Half the year, I live in a country where window opening is built in to the rental agreements.

It’s so important for general health and basic hygiene and good building maintenance I think, especially with increasingly efficient insulation.

On a personal level, as a menopausal women, I cannot stand airlessness and fuggy smells!

myusernamewastakenbyme · 05/07/2024 08:46

First thing i do when i wake up is open my bi fold doors and let the air in....i also cant stand a stuffy smelly house...houses are meant to breathe not be sealed boxes....no wonder so many are damp and mouldy.

Calamitousness · 05/07/2024 08:48

I’m with you. I have windows open in winter as well for a short period in the day and have fire/heating on as well. Closed houses are not good. They get humid and nasties can grow. A lot of people who live in small spaces and dry washing indoors generate so much moisture which then moulds and they complain to LL or council and actually it’s just bad home management.

CeratopsofthePharoahs · 05/07/2024 08:48

No, it's raining.

Mrsjayy · 05/07/2024 08:51

My back door is open on and off all day
For the dog, I do have open upstairs daily but if it's cold I'm not having my living room cold for a bit of "fresh air"

TeenDivided · 05/07/2024 08:54

I like to have the bedroom window open.
However I do not like the dawn chorus waking me up at 4.45am.

RabbitsRock · 05/07/2024 08:58

I’m definitely an opener!

Oh its cheery isn't it 😂

tiredbridetobe · 05/07/2024 09:03

I'm with you! Before work and after work the windows are opened to get fresh air in the house, and they are left on a security latch during the day to allow a bit of air through. If I was at someone else's house I would just ask them to open a window if I felt that strongly about it!

positivewings · 05/07/2024 09:22

My windows are always open day and night.

What are you hoping for the op to come visit 😂

Okbyethen · 05/07/2024 09:26

I'm with you OP! I open all my windows for at least 40mins or so every morning come rain or shine. I hate going into houses that obviously haven't had a window open in weeks/months/years! Especially if they've got dogs, you may not be able to smell your dog but other people certainly can! 🤢🤢🤢

CharlotteBog · 05/07/2024 09:40

Next door's cat comes in the kitchen window (and door) if that's open, but I'll open it if I'm in the kitchen to chase it out.

The upstairs ones are open now and if all the spiders come in (it's raining) I shall hold you entirely responsible OP.

Trust me, when DS15 cooks a steak (gotta get the fat HOT Mum) the windows and doors and the roof if I could are open.

Its giant moth season here in Somerset and those buggers will come in day and night. I had one in my hair yesterday, they just dive bomb you.

Shudder. I got one of those fuckers down my top. I smacked my hand on to my top in a panic and the thing turned to moth dust. What are those things made out of?!

Boogiemam · 05/07/2024 10:00

Look, I love an open window but my hayfever is trying to off me right now so the windows are staying shut and you're lucky you don't get a hoover down when you come in to my house.

Moth dust that's all nothing else they just go poof on contact!

LlynTegid · 05/07/2024 10:11

OP, you could do this thing and ask. If there is a good reason not to, you'll get an answer.
