I told the woman who let her 2 small-ish (but old enough to be told) hildren to stop staring at me whilst I was naked in a communal shower at the gym?

I didn't cover myself up as didn't think about it at the time but I did feel like perhaps I should have afterwards and felt a bit guilty.

I heard one of them say "mummy there is someone in the shower" and then they both came abck for a curious look.. now if it were me and dd I would have called her back and said to dd something like "please don't stare, concentrate on what you're doing" instead ofleaving her there to have a good old stare at naked woman..

They were there for a fair while.

Would I have been unreasonable to call out to the mother that I was naked and perhaps she might want to stop her children staring at me?

What is the etiquette with stare-y children and nakedness in these situations?

Bloody hell fire you lot, here, take this stick with 6 inch nails in...Mascara - just bend over, there's a love....

To answer your question - I think if the mother had thought it a problem, she would have called the kids over. I'm guessing she would expect to find nekked people in that environment, so I think you can assume from the fact that she didn't call them, that she didn't have a problem. So I don't think you should have said anything for her benefit. If you were uncomfortable with 2 pairs of little eyes on your fanjo, then you would have been within your rights to ask them to sod off.

Now. Continue with the beating.

Iota · 10/04/2008 14:30

mp - I guess you've never used the communal showers at CenterParcs then?

morningpaper · 10/04/2008 14:30

I wouldn't be able to see the sign because I would have left my glasses in the locker.

morningpaper · 10/04/2008 14:30

MIXED showers are different

SquonkTheBeerGuru · 10/04/2008 14:33

lol!

it doesn't actually tell you to leave your glasses on so you can read the sign telling you to leave your clothes on

motherinferior · 10/04/2008 14:33

Actually I would be rather rivetted by a Brazilian. I have clearly led a rather sheltered life wrt to naked women, I fear.

Then don't look!

Sparkletastic · 10/04/2008 14:36

I don't think their mama would have cared to be honest - as has been pointed out, nudity in the showers fairly commonplace. BUT I would deffo have told the kids to stop gawking, or I'd have made a face at them or something, or said loudly 'right you've seen me in all my glory now go and stare at your mum'. But then I never restrain myself if other people's kids are pissing me off as I have no reserves of tolerance left from dealing with my own little darlings...

flubdub · 10/04/2008 14:36

Theres - being naked and being naked .
Some people only go there to flaunt their bits and pieces, Im sure.

at Hecate.

morningpaper · 10/04/2008 14:36

i take him to a private pool for children's swimming lessons, so no, i don't think it is unreasonable for me to expect an adult to be a bit more conservative.

lol, are adults more conservative in private pools?

TiggerTots · 10/04/2008 14:37

OH NO!!! What happens in the centre Parc showers, I'm going!!!! PMSL (obviously not in a shower)

Oliveoil · 10/04/2008 14:37

yes, but mom, you said you do not let your dh see you naked, I find that odd

nobody is being flamed from what I can see

SoupDragon · 10/04/2008 14:37

You were in the shower, of course you were naked. I don't think it needed to be pointed out to the mother.

I do think children shouldn't stare at people though, naked or not. Looking and seeing is one thing, staring is rude.

morningpaper · 10/04/2008 14:38

oh yes - MASSIVE ORGIES in the showers are Centerparcs

Dragonbutter · 10/04/2008 14:39

Hmmmm. Obviously at home I wouldn't wear a swimming costume to shower, and am fine with my kids seeing me naked. That's not a problem.
But if using a communal shower I will keep my cozzie on to be discrete.
I will sunbathe topless if in europe, so it must be a fanjo thing.
Then maybe if i'd gone to effort of a brazilian I be more comfortable with people looking at it.

Not sure if any of this helps, i'm just thinking through how i feel about it.
Did you just start this thread so you can tell us you have a brazilian? If it didn't bother you then, no you were right not to say anything. If it did bother you, then don't be naked.

twinsetandpearls · 10/04/2008 14:39

My dd once said to a lady in the shower at our gym
" your tummy doesn't wobble like my mums@

S1ur · 10/04/2008 14:39

RESCUE RESCUE

are there people being flamed?

HairyToe · 10/04/2008 14:40

I can barely keep up with this but I'm crying with laughter thank you so much

Iota · 10/04/2008 14:41

TiggerTots - the showers at CP are along the wall as you go into the pool, so no privacy and mixed use, so I would advise you to keep your cozzie on - unless you are an exhibitionist

TiggerTots · 10/04/2008 14:42

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! I hope my orgy etiquette is better than my spelling!! LOL

twinsetandpearls · 10/04/2008 14:43

I have a bald fanjo and dd once decided to share this fact with her friend at a sleepover. I heard her friend say back to dd

"my mummy's front bottom is like a bear!"

HairyToe · 10/04/2008 14:43

"wobble my hige tits and flabby arse then they get so scared they stop looking"

'I am going in the shower now, I will be naked. Thought I'd let you know'

onepieceoflollipop's raincoat

priceless not sure why this has all tickled me so much but it has

TiggerTots · 10/04/2008 14:43

Noooooooooooooooooo!!!!

LOL No wonder DH was so excited about going!!!

I will be wearing polo necked knickers and a jumper in that case

flubdub · 10/04/2008 14:44

Is this going in MN Classics?
