I’m late 40s, work in a stressful in-person customer service role. Supposedly part-time at 35 hours, rarely less than 37. It’s effectively full-time but with the poorer benefits of part time (I’m in the US so this is totally legal). I’m burnt out and fed up with rude and entitled people.

has anyone managed to successfully pivot to something else at this point? I have 2 Masters degrees, in English and History. However, I also have a several-year employment gap because of health reasons. Can’t afford to go back to college/university.

Do it. You still have a long time ahead of you with work. Can you take a temporary contract to get the experience? Less competition for those positions and will help you get experience.
