Long term sickness is already nearly double of that in the private sector, aibu to think that this will get even worse under Labour?

You Tory bots really are getting desperate 🙄

pasta · 02/07/2024 12:38

Why would that happen? Do you think Labour is going to go in and change all the terms and conditions of the public sector because they want loads of people off sick

If Labour can indeed sort out waiting lists then there would be fewer people taking sick leave

WobblyBoots · 02/07/2024 12:39

No

AppleCream · 02/07/2024 12:39

No

DontBiteTheCat · 02/07/2024 12:39

No.

OptimismvsRealism · 02/07/2024 12:39

Long term sick leave is a consequence of 4 year waiting lists...

Maddy70 · 02/07/2024 12:43

How on earth could you come to this conclusion... obvious tory bot

Startingagainandagain · 02/07/2024 12:45

This is getting desperate...

MeadowL · 02/07/2024 12:46

I have a feeling that Labour will just throw even more money at the already bloated public sector and productivity will drop even lower.

My local Lobour run council still all work from home fgs!

bellinisurge · 02/07/2024 12:46

Why?

HuongVuong3 · 02/07/2024 12:49

You still haven't explained why.

summeroccupation · 02/07/2024 12:49

Bore off.

Long term sickness has increased because it's impossible to see a GP and because of the way Covid was handled.

Fudgetheparrot · 02/07/2024 12:49

What, why?

ilovesooty · 02/07/2024 12:51

Imagine thinking this ridiculous stuff, let alone starting a thread about it.

SummerTimeIsTheBest · 02/07/2024 12:51

I work in the Civil Service and, in our organisation, 85% of the reason people called in sick was due to stress and anxiety. I doubt that’s ever going to change 🤷‍♀️

Tryingtokeepgoing · 02/07/2024 12:51

The public sector will get better for it's staff, and worse for the rest of us. It will also get bigger. Unions, quite rightly, are motivated to get the best for their members. But no one advocates effectively for patients, students, claimants or taxpayers, except occasionally the opposition. We will have an even less effective opposition than we've had for the last 10 years, so don't expect anything to get better if you are a user of public services. It will take longer than a 5 year term to deliver change unfortunately

schloss · 02/07/2024 12:51

Just my thoughts - initially there will be a flurry of better productivity as those in the public sector will be happy there (may) is a Labour government. A honeymoon period so to say, then the pay demands will appear along with different working regulations and soon the situation will be worse than it currently is as either the government will give into the demands, which in turn will lead to more, or they will not which will lead to far lower productivity and/or strikes.

Hatty65 · 02/07/2024 12:54

No. Nothing could be worse than the Tories. I'm hoping Labour DO throw more money at the public sector.

I don't think you should be voting to be honest. You seem utterly clueless.

I work for a conservative council and we work from home

in my sector (children’s social care) a reduction in young people coming into care, by tackling poverty, improving early help, increasing the number of permanent social workers etc will have a huge impact on stress related absences

so no

Amen.

DogInATent · 02/07/2024 12:56

Complaining about public sector working from home... oh dear, we're about to get the full conspiracy deck dealt one card at a time.

Could we just skip ahead to the chemtrails please OP?

Blackhorse32 · 02/07/2024 12:57

i don’t see how it will change at all? They have generous T+Cs - these won’t change who ever is in power.

If labour invert more money that may mean more staff and less stress and a better service.

Sortingmyselfoutdayatatime · 02/07/2024 12:58

More of a concern is both public and private have shot us. Covid but also I suspect mental health
