To put on the Dressing Gown of Doom

Harrumphhhh · 01/07/2024 16:54

I know, I know, they’re usually reserved for ‘poorly’ DHs, but I’m thoroughly fed up and think I deserve it. I think we all do actually.

England men’s team are thoroughly dull in Euros; it’s July and I’m freezing; it’s still AGES until the summer holidays. DS1 is being a douche. DS2 has covid.

Fuck it. Fuck it all.

I’ve put on the dressing gown, told the kids we’re having beige food for dinner and am about to restart Bridgerton from the beginning.

Who’s joining me? Metaphorically, of course. No one wants to get close to me in this mood.

I've got my Oodie on, if that's any help. The weather is shit for July and I've just watched the forecast for the rest of the week and wish I hadn't bothered.

I've got biscuits, if you want one.

Disabledmomma · 01/07/2024 17:02

I’m in a wheelchair so dressing gowns are too long/ impractical. I have a baggy ‘hoody of doom’. It’s been on since Saturday morning. I have a thinking cold, in lots of pain and the kids are not doing a day lot to help.
I can’t see it coming off anytime soon.

Disabledmomma · 01/07/2024 17:03

stinking cold. Ff’s 🤦🏻‍♀️

Copperkryten · 01/07/2024 17:05

@disabledmomma a thinking cold sounds quite groovy. Far better than a stinking one.

DD(5) has a stomach bug, been up all night, yesterday we were incredibly busy preparing doing something we've been preparing for for a while, we have a baby and I'm so tired. Been up since 12, changing multiple bedsheets etc. I'm in bed in pjs! Sod it!

Applepencilplant · 01/07/2024 17:17

My house is so cold in the winter I live in the dressing gown of doom
Today I have covid and I'm in the t-shirt of doom. It's enormous, very soft and perfect for flaking out in.

Harrumphhhh · 01/07/2024 17:17

Yay. Misery loves company. It’s just shit isn’t it?

I've felt fucking awful today - dragging myself through life and thoroughly FED UP.

Everyone's just gone out so I'm going to have a bath and put on my dressing gown good shout.

LizzieBennett73 · 01/07/2024 17:29

We've been away for the weekend, got stuck in a 5 hour traffic jam coming home and I've just put the 3rd machine load of washing on ffs as I didn't empty the basket before we left (that'll teach me) thinking I had all day today.

I'm beyond tired and extremely grumpy - DH has beat a hasty retreat to his man cave outside aka the garage Grin

justasking111 · 01/07/2024 17:32

Getting over COVID my dressing gown was on all evening plus a throw to keep my feet warm. Will be again this evening. The dog had his summer cut last week, he's snuggled up like a cat on me.

Intheband · 01/07/2024 18:00

I’ve got home and gone straight to bed with a stress migraine….. kids have been told eat fruit and watch tv until your dad get home. I’m so fed up of being constantly stressed, husband on redundancy consultation, shit situation at my work, daughter worrying about going to secondary and to top it off despite being seizure and medication free for a year had a horrid tonic clonic seizure - ambulance/hospital jobby. She hates how the meds make her feel and now has to go back on for another 2 years.

stop the ride I want to get off!

Berlinlover · 01/07/2024 18:09

Just finished six rounds of an extremely strong type of chemo. I’ve been living in my dressing gown since February.

Harrumphhhh · 01/07/2024 18:10

In a surprise turn of events, the 12yo douche just found me festering on the sofa, cuddled up next to me for a bit, then said “go to sleep mum, we’ll cope”

Maybe being a strong independent female isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Showing a bit of vulnerability seems to be working in my favour.

In your scenario, dressing gown seems entirely appropriate. If I could, I’d send you some choccies to eat in it x

Itsybitsytitsy · 01/07/2024 18:16

AnnieMcFanny · 01/07/2024 18:20

@Harrumphhhh ehmmm was douche a typo.

Ukhotelsareshit · 01/07/2024 18:22

Currently in my dressing gown, drinking wine on a Monday! DH being a dick, it’s all kicking off at work and it’s pissing down and freezing.

Bloom15 · 01/07/2024 18:44

I will join you - feel like shit. My asthma has kicked off AGAIN and I'm on oral steroids AGAIN. This damp weather is killing me!

My anxiety isn't great at the minute but trying to push through it

VictorianBigot · 01/07/2024 18:44

I'm in my Pyjamas of Doom and have been all day. I'm still in bed. I have a splitting headache that neither ibuprofen, paracetamol nor codeine have touched and I feel really quite unwell. I can't cope with looking at a screen for long and have the brightness right down... I can only sleep so much so I'm bored out of my mind.

Cattery · 01/07/2024 18:50

Had dinner. Washed up and am thinking about taking my make up off and having an early night. I’ll have to disturb the cat to get under the Duvet of Doom

Cattery · 01/07/2024 18:50

Sozza. Posted twice
