To get a different train to them?

Me and two friends are going to visit another friend next month and getting the train.

Theres a station near me that’s (to be specific) a 12 minute drive. One friend has suggested we drive to hers (30 minute drive) and then her drive to a different station (20 minute drive) and we all get the train together.

I do want to get the train together, but I travel so much in the week that I really begrudge unnecessary travelling on the weekend. A 22 minute round trip seems more preferable to me than an hour and 40 minute round trip.

No, I’ve just checked. I’d come into St Pancras and they’d come in to Kings Cross.

My friend who suggested to drive is just a bit bossy, and we always have to do things her way. So usually I’d follow to keep the peace. But I’m trying a new thing of just doing what works for me (within reason).

I hate bossy people, so yanbu. Suit yourself

Do the trains themselves take comparable times? Eg. Your station isn't only stopped at by the stopping trains whereas your friend's is stopped at by the faster trains?
Assuming it's not something like that then as pp have said above, invite them to come to yours and if not say you'll meet them there

Yanbu to get train yourself. However if you want to go together i would go to hers as she asked first. Would he rude to suggest to much for you to travel she should travel to yours. Absolutely fine to say no thank you and get train yourself.

My guess is you live close to Nottingham and they live close to Grantham 😜

Nah, feck that. If you’ve been driving all week, I’d want to be chilling on the train asap. ALTHOUGH, IMO, it’s nicer trains on the Grantham journey.

Have you compared the prices for the two routes? I find that often sways my decision.

"Thanks for the suggestion Katy, but it's way easier for me to go from Little Stopton so I'll just meet you in London. My train arrives a bit earlier so I'll come and wait for you in KX"

She's being ridiculous either she comes to you or you meet up at either St P or Kings Cross at one of the many coffee shops.

Flossflower · 30/06/2024 14:12

Definitely go the way you want. I had some complicated travel plan put to me because it suited someone else. I just met her there.

‘Meet you outside platform 9 3/4 at King’s Cross at x time.”

st panc and King’s Cross are just across the road from one another.
