please help me find this Christmas shop in Rhineland

Okay this is a very long shot.

I went on a Christmas Markets trip to Rhineland with school 15ish years ago.

Had an amazing time, on one of the days we stopped of in this beautiful small town which has the most incredible Christmas shop. It wasn’t one of our main days where we went to Aachen, Cologne etc just somewhere we stopped off for a couple of hours

Would love to take my kids. I remember there being just lots of windy pedestrian streets/steps. Beauty and the Beast medieval pretty.

Anyone know what I’m talking about?

Is the town Riquewihr in Alsace? The Christmas shop is called Feerie De Noel. It's France, rather than Germany, but close to the Rhine and German border.

Was it a Käthe Wohlfahrt shop? There are a few in Germany and also one in York www.kaethe-wohlfahrt.com/en/openinghours/storelist/

It could have been Cochem. It's a very pretty little town on the Rhine, about an hour south of Cologne.
If you didn't go that far south maybe it was Bedburg, that's between Aachen and Cologne.

Rothenburg is very Beauty and the Beast. Chitty Bang Bang was filmed there, it has the child catcher in the square type vibe.

Went to Rothenburg odT many times on school trips and when friends/family visited and it always blew my mind that it had the cute buildings and Christmas shop and then just round the corner a museum basically full of torture devices with graphic descriptions of how they were used. Never realised Chitty was filmed there until today so thank you for that bit of trivia!

Rüdesheim sounds like a real possibility, as has been suggested.

Probably Rüdesheim. Their Christmas shop is open all year round.

Googled the Rudesheim Christmas store - doesn’t look right. The Christmas store I remember was in more of an old townhouse with windy stairs. Charming is an understatement!

Unfortunately there's an article online saying that the couple who ran the Christmas shop in Monschau had begun a closing-down sale, as they hadn't been able to find anyone willing to take over the business, having run it for some 26 years.

What a shame it closed down. Was truly magical in there- have some lovely memories with school friend from my trip there.
