To find car key fob battery really tricky to change..?

I have an 11 year old Nissan Juke... I hate changing the key fob battery and find it really hard to pry open the key fob case.

The low battery warning tends to appear within days of the new battery change (so is not a true indicator of low battery as will go for a year after first appearing)

I gave up on the warning sign as was changing the battery every few weeks. I just keep a spare battery in the car "just in case"

Well... I got stuck out and about this morning and had to change the stupid thing... managed it but it was stressy and took me 20 minutes to get it open

Does any car manufacturer make them easier to open the fob?

If you go direct to Nissan they will change it for £10 and it's guaranteed for 2 years Grin

I have to watch a YouTube video every time. I hate it. It’s been the same for my last 2 cars, different brands, not a Nissan

I just take mine to a sole repair dude.

I was also surprised that there is an actual key inside the fob for my keyless ignition car for if the fob doesn't work. Still not sure where it's supposed to go like.

Yes, it’s a buggar. I destroyed the whole fob and had to go, whining, to the main dealer to help me lol 🙄

Glad I hadn't read this thread before changing battery in my Suzuki key fob - would probably just gone and paid to have it done. It took less than a minute - no issues. Same battery as my kitchen scales so already had spares, tenner saved.

I took mine to the garage who do my mot and service…….there was no charge

Yes usually it times it self well to coincide with the service but this time it didn't.

Too half an hour

I've just done mine, opened it up in Timpsons to check the battery type and he said "well you've just saved yourself £13 on fitting!". He did actually put the new one in and put the fob back together but I could've easily done it. First time replacing this one (bmw) but have easily changed a Mitsubishi one before, maybe Nissans are trickier?

I had to change the battery in mine a few months back and nearly broke the plastic trying to open it. Turns out there’s a tiny clip inside I missed. Also, if you ever need to replace a small button cell, I learned that lr41 battery equivalent options can sometimes have slightly different names, so double-check packaging or ask someone at the shop.
