To wonder whether Sunak, Braverman et al now realise they meant them too?

Following the Reform activists remarks where he called Sunak a P**i, do you think Sunak, Braverman, Patel, Badenoch now realise racists meant them and their families too?

When Braverman spreads great replacement theory, does she realise they don’t want her brown children to populate the West either?

Do you think they realise they encouraged racists with their rhetoric?

They don't care because of the amount of privilege they have. Wealth elevates you. They are for the few, not the many.

TooBigForMyBoots · 29/06/2024 00:33

The Tory chickens are coming home to roost. It's just a pity that it took them so long to realise what their divisive, xenophobia has done to British POC.Sad

Yes, they've always realised this but career and power is more important to them

bozzabollix · 29/06/2024 00:35

Completely agree with you. Amoral bastards.

Yes, I think they knew. I think they absolutely knew they were a Trojan horse for racists. But it suited their careers.

TooBigForMyBoots · 29/06/2024 00:48

Remember when Sunak said that racist, misogynist Tory donor Frank Hester said "sorry" so everyone should accept it and move on?🤔

I don't want to come across as a Reform voter (I'm not) but from what I understand that man was found out to be an actor? Although I don't know if that's been confirmed? It was definitely disgusting what he said.

I'd say there are some genuine racists who'll vote for Reform but I think lots (who'll vote for them) aren't racist. If they were that racist wouldn't they choose one of those parties like Britain First? Unless they don't exist anymore? One of Reform's senior figures is Asian. Ben Habib.

Unfortunately there's a problem with racism in other parties too. Antisemitism, I understand has been an issue with the Greens (not sure if it was candidates or canvassers) and the woman who's on trial for the racist 'coconut' images aimed at Sunak and Braverman, is (I understand?) a Labour supporter.

TooBigForMyBoots · 29/06/2024 00:56

He is an actor. He is also a racist and Reform supporter.

Againname · 29/06/2024 01:01

I don't know what Braverman has said about a replacement theory so won't comment on that (sounds bit hyperbolic?).

However wrt immigration it's not racist to discuss mass immigration and the impact (which has impacted much more on the less as advantaged than on other people).

Of course, as I've said on other threads, although discussion is needed (calm discussion, with no hate or hostility towards any groups), reducing numbers is just one option on how to address the impact.

Angela Rayner spoke of another option this week. More equal distribution across the UK. Every borough in the UK to take people in. That's not a bad idea imo.

Would make it easier to ensure there's sufficient housing, jobs, and public services for both established residents and immigrants. Also it might help with integration, bring different communities together, and address people's fear or dislike of the 'outsider' (something that's also faced by within-UK 'blow-ins').

coralpinkduckegg · 29/06/2024 01:01

Whether he's an actor or not, these are still the sentiments of lots of people out there.

It's all fun and games and Rwanda and 'swarms of them' until you get called the P word isn't it, Rishi. And Suella. And Priti.

Againname · 29/06/2024 01:18

What he said was disgusting.

And if genuinely representative of Reform, even more reason for the main parties to acknowledge and address the legitimate concerns of people wrt mass immigration. So then they don't feel they have to turn to parties like Reform.

Although there's genuine racists out there who unfortunately probably won't ever change, there's also people who aren't racist but are turning to Reform. This is because they don't feel other parties are acknowledging or addressing the impact of mass immigration (which impacts the less advantaged more than other people).

As I said, reducing numbers isn't the only option. Angela Rayner offered an alternative one.

Main thing is, whoever's next in government needs to commit to a massive social housing build and invest in job opportunities and public services, and ensure everyone who's in the UK and in need is provided for (British born and immigrant alike).

ETA. I'm not voting for Reform. I just realise why some people will and think it's a shame it's got to this stage.

TempestTost · 29/06/2024 01:20

Imagine they all already knew that some people are twats, and that isn't really relevant to their views on immigration.

Many racists are political progressives, so it's not like views on immigration are really what differentiates the racists from the non-racists.

TooBigForMyBoots · 29/06/2024 01:31

The right of the Tory party, Nigel Farage and kGB News thought they were being clever stirring up racist division and didn't realise that racism is insidious and damages everyone, until now.🙄

mathanxiety · 29/06/2024 03:10

They were happy to climb up onto the back of the tiger as long as it served their purposes.

Now they have to hold on.

Sporadica · 29/06/2024 03:26

Pretty sure that any and all of the people you mentioned know that racists mean them and their families. Probably knew it before you did.

So you think Braverman, Sunak et al don't really belong here? Is that what you are implying? It sounds like that.

Time to put the bottle down and seek help. That’s if there’s any social services left in your area under this lot!
