To think Joe Biden needs to be replaced as a candidate

I just saw a headline saying Biden absolutely lost the plot last night and was totally incoherent. Why on earth is he bring put forward as a candidate. I know a lot of folk on here think nothing could be worse than Trump. Or does it not really matter who is President as somebody else makes the big decisions anyway and the President is just a figurehead. I find it a bit scarey that the USA can only come up with those two. Many Democrats are apparently calling for him to be replaced.

I can see your point on this. And I suppose its all guess work. Biden obviously doesn't want to step down and maybe she thinks it would look pretty bad if she didn't support him in public. Its a mess whatever way you look at it. My bet is he will step down.

It's an utter shit fest. He hasn't been found to be lacking capacity and unlike the UK, there's no such thing as a vote of no confidence. He's refusing to step aside and he's causing quite the consternation.

I don't agree at all and think she's getting a very hard time. Biden is very stubborn, has a big ego and has wanted to be president for a very long time. He has a team around him, propping him up, it's naive to think he's unilaterally making decisions. I doubt there's much Jill can do except support him. He's evidently not going to step aside without a fight.

My DH and I were talking about the situation earlier and commenting that Trump’s court cases and guilty verdict now seem like old news here in the US, everyone’s focusing on Biden’s gaffes.

I’m so frustrated with the Democratic Party, Trump should have been relatively easy to defeat but now it’s very uncertain.

From what I heard on our news here the Vice President isn't very popular. Or can they choose somebody else. They need to do something fairly quickly.

They can choose someone else, but I'm pretty sure I heard that donations made to the Biden / Harris campaign can only be used if one of them is the candidate.

If Newsom/Whitmer/Pritzker/whoever were parachuted in then they'd need to start fundraising again from scratch. Not necessarily insuperable: a lot of Democrat donors went on strike after the debate, and Prizker has more money of his own than God.

Yes I think I heard something about funding on the news a day or two ago. There would be a problem. Time is running out. Surely they must know this. But I suppose things will be going on behind the scenes. But why they ever thought the increasingly frail looking Biden was up to the job is anybody's guess.

It’ll be a conservative woman someone like Kristi Noem (not her but someone similar)

I'd bet on this too.

I wouldn't vote for Biden and wouldn't vote Trump.

The Democrats have got a lot to answer for. They got Trump in by stitching up Bernie for 2016 with the deeply divisive Hilary who Trump could play the anti establishment card against. Now they're putting up someone who would struggle to say his own name.

Honestly it almost feels like it's on purpose.

To what end? I don't know, and actually I don't think it is on purpose. But it's so over the top it seems like they can't actually think they are making the right decisions.
